Karen L. Darnell, 61, of Hope

Karen L. Darnell, 61, of Hope, passed away Tuesday Feb. 2, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Karen had previously worked for Columbus Parks and Recreation and was a score keeper at Lincoln Park. She was a Deacon at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was very involved and enjoyed helping out at the church. She loved her dog, Bart.

Karen was an organ and tissue donor and has already touched three different lives with her donation.

Born on Dec. 2, 1959 in Cleveland, Karen was the daughter of Orn “Jake” Grimes and Gloria Wilson Huesman. She married Jeff Darnell on April 1, 2004.

Survivors include her husband; children, Brandon Slocum of Hope, Jared Slocum of Taylorsville, and Jason (Kia) Darnell of Ninevah; grandchildren, Hailee Darnell and Jared Slocum II, and one on the way, Kory Darnell; siblings, Tim (Bev) Grimes of Akron, OH, Dwight (Mark) Grimes of Mansfield, OH, and Jamie Grimes of Strongsville, OH; mother-in-law, Phyllis Darnell of Hope; sister-in-law, Pam Darnell of Hope; and several nieces and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, and father-in-law, George Darnell.

Visitation will be Monday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. A private service will be held. Burial will follow at Hawcreek Cemetery. Please follow social distancing guidelines and masks are required.
