Peggy J. Mitchner- George, 80, of Westport

Peggy J. Mitchner- George, 80, of Westport passed away Sunday Dec. 27, 2020 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility. Mrs. George was retired from Dorel Juvenile Group and Columbus Sportswear sewing factory.

Mrs. George was born April 13, 1940, in Brown County, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Francis Mae Pittman- Mitchner. She married Garnett O. George July 11, 1962 in Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. George was a graduate of Columbus High School class of 1958 where she was a fire baton majorette.

Her hobbies included sewing, crafting, crocheting and quilting. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters Carrie (Daniel) Mitchner-Shaw of Columbus, Debora George- Wiest of Elizabethtown; sons Tony (Debby) George of Columbus, Randall George of Westport, Derrick (Sheri) George of Westport; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Garnett George in 2003, her mother Mae and father Charles, sister Bettie West, and brother Gary Mitchner.

There will be a private family graveside service to bury Mrs. George’s cremains at Daugherty Cemetery.

Service arrangements were entrusted to Norman Funeral Home.
