Norma Jean (Miller) Isley, 97, of Flat Rock
Norma Jean (Miller) Isley of Flat Rock, IN, 97, passed away at her home on June 30, 2021 surrounded by her family.
She was born April 16, 1924 in Marion, IN to her parents, the late Rev. Herbert and Edith (Corn) Miller.
On September 21, 1941, Norma married Harlan Eugene Isley in Fairmount, IN, who passed away December 3, 1998. Norma was also preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Joyner, and son-in-law, John Phelps.
Norma is survived by her four daughters, Myrna (Niel) Makielski of South Bend, IN, Marcia (Paul) Krise of Flat Rock, IN, Judith (Curt) Metcalf of North Vernon, IN, and Jolene (Larry) Coffey of Flat Rock, IN. She is also survived by one sister, Charlene Frazier of Anderson, IN; grandchildren, Cori (Wiggins) Dobbs, Seth (Karla) Krise, Ethan (Brittany) Krise, Brooke (Joe) Reason, Colton (Samantha) Coffey, Nicholas (Melissa) Makielski, and Chris (Karlei) Metcalf; additionally, great-grandchildren, Harlan, Kinley, Kooper, Lawson, Bristol, Marek, Kenneth, Chase, Zachary, Thea, and Brooks.
Norma was a welder in Columbus, IN during WWII, welding tails onto bombs. She also drove lime trucks, when she and Harlan were first married, for farmers. Norma was a farmer for many years until retirement and lived on the family farm.
Norma was a member of Eastern Star.
She loved quilting, crafting, making dolls, and doing word search puzzles. She enjoyed cooking and cooked a home cooked meal every day at lunch for the farm hands.
Visitation was held at Norman Funeral Home in Hope, followed by a funeral service and burial at Norristown Cemetery.
