Old Fashioned Independence Day and Cruise-In

The Yellow Trail Museum's Old Fashioned Independence Day and Main Street's cruise-in to Hope will be teaming up forces in July.  The two events will be held in conjunction on Friday, July second.  The cruise-in will be from 5:00 - 8:00.  The Bannister Family Band will be playing.  Hope Volunteer Fire Department will host a fish fry and area restaurants will be open for dine in and carryout.  Kappa Kappa Sigma will be having funnel cakes.  The Old Fashioned Independence Day will be from 6:00 - 10:00 with fireworks after dark.   The museum will be open and serving ice cream floats for donations. The schedule is as follows:

6:00--Crafts, Games and Contests for Kids, Food Booths Open

6:15--Crowning of Little Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker

6:20--Parade of Decorated Bikes/Trikes/ Strollers Begins

6:30--Banister Family Band Plays on the Bandstand  

6:45--Register Apple Pies for Pie Baking Contest--Cash Prizes

6:45--Cake Walk in Shelter House

7:30--Sack Races

7:30--Watermelon Eating Contest

7:45--Tug of War

8:00--Water Balloon Toss

10:00--Fireworks Begin--Bring Your Own Chair or Blanket

The museum will also be crowning the fourth annual Little Mister and Miss Firecracker. The contest is open to all area children ages three through ten. Simply decorate a can, and place around town or solicit friends and family to collect money to vote for your contestant. Each penny counts as one vote, one dollar equals 100 votes! All proceeds benefit the Yellow Trail Museum. Turn in your can to the Yellow Trail Museum before Wednesday, June 30th. If the museum is not open, you may turn in your can to Jessica Brown at Deckard Tool on 624 Main Street. The winner will be announced at the on Old Fashioned Fourth Friday, July second at 6:15 on the town square! Little Miss Sparkler and Little Mr. Firecracker will then lead the bike parade around the square.

Registration forms are available at Willow Leaves, the Yellow Trail Museum, the Hope Library and on the square the day of the event.
