Christmas of Yesteryear

The Yellow Trail Museum will once again kick off the holiday season on Friday, November 19th with their annual event Christmas of Yesteryear.  The festivities kick off at 5:00 on the bandstand with a tree lighting ceremony.  Students from Hauser's German club will then sing "O Tannenbaum" and 'Stille Nacht."  All area German speakers are encouraged to attend.  Yellow Trail President Jessica Brown has always envisioned this as a nod to the town's German heritage.  Santa will be located in the Yellow Trail Museum this year.  He will have his wife and two elves present for the evening.  The museum will also be hosting its annual fundraising bake sale.  Susan Thayer Fye is heading that up and will be at the museum Thursday and Friday for donations.  Children will also be able to make crafts and write a letter to Santa in the museum.  The historic characters will have two performances on the bandstand, one at 5:30 and one at 7:00.  This is a departure from years past.  In the age of COVID the museum board felt it was not wise to load strangers together in wagons or carriages.  The live nativity will late place in the lot beside WILLow LeaVes of Hope at 6:30 and 7:30.  WILLow LeaVes of Hope will have carolers inside and will be serving a chicken and noodle dinner.  Food will also be served at El Jefe and Corner Cafe.  There will be games for children in the shelterhouse.
