You are invited to attend our Nov. 6 annual meeting

You are invited to a fun and entertaining benefit at WILLow LeaVes to help support your local not-for-profit and free reading digital newspaper, HSJ Online. It will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 6th.

Three  well-known artists to our community have volunteered to perform 20 minute sets during the evening while playing songs of a selected performer who has inspired them:

  • Sally Webster: John Denver
  • Avery Tallent: Tom Petty
  • Dale Sechrest: Harry Chapin

Each will also perform one of their favorite original songs. Then, they will come together for one last song, “If I Had A Hammer,” made extremely popular by Peter, Paul, and Mary. The songs are certain to bring back memories for many and generate movement, singing, and clapping. Ben Cleland has also volunteered his services to make sure sounds from the popular stage of WILLow LeaVes will be dispersed masterfully.

We are extremely pleased to have a guest speaker who has been an important part of our growth since the beginning in 2015. Scott Mings, financial adviser and investments Vice President for Raymond James, will share his involvement with HSJ and discuss the newly formed HSJ Online Foundation.

After Tim McNamee and Paul Bunting present a song about a Hauser class and David Webster talks about a few 2021 highlights for HSJ, a special thank you gift will be presented to Team Members Jessica Brown (“Town Crier”), Don Hewitt, and Howard Zachariah as well as Volunteer Writer, Shelley Young (“Fresh From The Farm”), Features Writer, Jennifer Willhite, Content Coordinator, John Clark, and Financial Consultant, Scott Mings.

The charge for the evening is $15 which includes dinner. Sally Webster and her sister, Pam Anderson, will provide wonderful music during dinner time. WILLow LeaVes will then graciously give part of their proceeds back to HSJ. Donation forms and envelopes will be available on tables as well as Hope Bracelets, provided by the Town of Hope, expressing thanks for your support. We are hoping former and new contributors will help us reach our yearly budget of $15,456, in particular since unable to have the event in 2020 due to the coronavirus. Even though there are still concerns, the staff of WILLow LeaVes will incorporate spacing, seating, and serving provisions to make this one as safe as possible.

Please stop in at WILLow LeaVes or call to make reservations at 812-341-7251 or 812-546-0640, or you can contact the following team members: Jessica Brown, Michael Dean, Don Hewitt, David Webster, Terri Young, Howard Zachariah, John Clark, and Stephanie Shoaf. It is also important to note that Christmas has already arrived at WILLow LeaVes with all types of interesting items available to purchase.

If you can not make it to the benefit and wish to make a donation to HSJ, you can do it electronically or by mail to:
