Everett D. McIntyre, 68, of Hope

Everett D. McIntyre, 68, of Hope, passed from this life at 12:35 p.m. January 1, 2022 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mr. McIntyre was born on September 24, 1953 in Shelbyville, IN. He was the son of Everett N. and Phyllis (Galbraith) McIntyre. Everett spent his childhood in the Hope area and graduated from Hauser High School in 1971. He received his associate degree in applied science from Vincennes University in 1973. Everett married Deborah Stanbrough on March 20, 1976 at Rugby United Brethren Church.

Mr. McIntyre was employed by NTN Driveshaft for nearly 30 years where he formed long lasting friendships with his coworkers. He was a member of St. Peter’s Luthern Church. He made his solo flight in his dad’s Veronica Chief when he was a teenager. He continued to enjoy flying single engine planes throughout his life and going to air shows with his fellow aviation buddies. He especially enjoyed his role as a dad and papaw and made many wonderful memories with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Deborah J. McIntyre of Hope; children, Erin (Matt) Miller of Bedford, IN; grandchildren, Claire and Caroline Miller; brothers, Tony (Cindy) McIntyre of Hope and Tracy (Darlene) McIntyre of Columbus; father- in-law, Robert Stanbrough of Huntingdon, PA; and sister-in-law, Galene (Bill) Harkleroad of Huntingdon, PA.

Mr. McIntyre was preceded in death by his parents, Everett N. and Phyllis (Galbraith) McIntyre; grandparents, Glen and Elsie (Green) Galbraith and Frank and Lula (Hopkins) McIntyre; and mother-in-law, Bernice Stanbrough.

A funeral will take place on Thursday, January 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Mark Teike officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Due to the current Covid situation, it is requested that those paying their respects wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given through the funeral home to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
