Anita Clay, 88, of Scipio


Anita Clay, 88, of Scipio, formerly of Hope passed away Tuesday March 8, 2022 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born October 17, 1933 in Arkansas, Anita was the daughter of Roscoe and Lela Louis Wells, Sr. She married Peter J. Clay September 14, 1951 and he preceded her in death June 26, 2009.

In Anita’s previous years she worked at Sap’s Bakery making donuts.

Anita was a woman of strong faith and loved the Lord. She loved flowers, music, watching birds and sitting outside. She especially loved her four daughters and her dog Sammy.

Anita is survived by children, Julia Leslie of Hope, Cindy Clay of Fl., Lelia Frazee of Hope and Alise Pate of St. Marys, GA; grandchildren, David (Melissa) Bierlein of Scipio, Tim (Loretta) Holley of Hope, Christel Chapman of Fl., Karen Chapman(Matt Ray) of New Orleans, LA, Peter (Shellie) Chapman of Scipio and Clayton(Emily) White of Jacksonville Beach, FL; great grandchildren, Kegan Bierlein of Columbus, Anita Grace (Dylan) Rigdon of Seymour, Keaton (Avi) Floyd of Killeen, TX, Shayla and Skylar Chapman of Scipio, Leralynn White and Easton Peter White both of Jacksonville Beach, FL.; brother, Ted Wells of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.

Anita’s funeral will be at Norman Funeral Home Tuesday March 15 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randall Burton officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and siblings, Doris Lortz, Jean Chisnall, Roscoe Wells, Jr. and Nina Lynch.
