Hope FFA receives grant from national organization
By From Aleesa Dickerson-
The Hope FFA chapter has been awarded a spring semester Living to Serve Grant in the amount of $1,200.
The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support semester-long service-learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health and nutrition; and community engagement during the fall semester.
Hope FFA plans to help address food security by continuing to meet community needs with the Comfort Foods Program. Hauser Agriculture Education and Family and Consumer Science Departments are partnering to support families in our community.
We all experience times that are difficult to get meals on the table. Be it a surgery, loss of a loved one, birth of a child, demanding work hours, increased times of stress, or financial hardship, what makes a community a family is supporting one another. We would like to cook for you!
This program is student led by Hope FFA Reporter, Kyra Meister in collaboration with the foods classes. While it is a student-led initiative, identity of the request is always kept confidential from the students. You can support this program by sharing with someone who could benefit or offering to bring them a meal through the comfort foods program. Fill out the form located on the school website.
The Living to Serve Grant program provided over $52,000 to FFA chapters in 25 states. The 2022 Spring Semester-Long Living to Serve Grants are sponsored by Tractor Supply Company and Cargill. For more information and a complete listing of sponsors, visit FFA.org/livingtoserve.
