A Request for the Support of Former Students of Mr. Law and Mrs. Dickerson

On Saturday, November 5 th at WILLow LeaVes, Mr. Pete Law and Mrs. Violet Dickerson, former teachers at Hope Elementary, will be providing improv comedy for an important benefit. It would be much appreciated if former students of each could come out and support them as well as our town's free reading and not-for-profit media source since 2015, “HSJ Online.”

When in Mr. Law's class, I suspect all of you remember walking the red carpet. Writing, speaking, and listening standards were covered while working on your speech and delivering it and hoping to win an Oscar. I doubt if you forgot that learning and fun experience, another valuable experience that just cannot be measured on a standardized test. Mr. Law continues to follow his passion and dream of becoming a career actor.

You may have also participated in a special project creating a CD with the help of Sally Webster who will perform music during dinner time. Your songs have now traveled all over the world with “The Child-Start Smiling” CD. In 2010, I presented a check for $100 to the music department anticipating people streaming your songs, and they are each year. These projects all materialized due to three words from former Hope Elementary principal, Mr. Michener, when asking for permission: “Go for It!” Once again, several standards were covered in a unique and memorable way.

Cost for the evening, including a chicken and noodle dinner, is only $15, cash preferably. And WILLow LeaVes will look much like Christmas providing for an exceptional warm and inviting atmosphere. Please call 812-341-7251 or 812-546-0640 to make reservations.
