Ray Chauncey (Chauncey) Thoman, 89, Carmel

Ray Chauncey "Chauncey" Thoman, 89 of Carmel, Indiana formerly of Shelbyville and Waldron passed away October 21, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center of Carmel, IN.

He was born July 4, 1933 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Dalton Ray Thoman and Gertrude (Runnebohm) Thoman.

Chauncey married his love, Betty Ann (McAhren) on January 2, 1952 and she survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Toni (Rob) Morris of Westfield, IN; four grandchildren, Chad (Tina) Morris, Kurt (Amy) Morris, Andrew Morris, Lisa (Austin) Wright; 13 great grandchildren; his siblings, Adrian (Diane) Thoman of Georgia and a sister, Trudy (Ray) Roser of Carlisle, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael and a daughter, Debra and brothers, Rex, Matt and Rudy. Chauncey was a graduate of Waldron High School a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church an also Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

He was a Carpenter and was Vice President of Ernsting Construction Company working 30 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing, his motorcycles and his tractors. He also raised Quarter Horses. Chauncey was a builder including over 10 schools, shopping centers to name a few. He also loved his flower garden and working in the yard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 1 p.m. in St. Vincent Catholic Church, with Rev. Mike Keuscher officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October 28, 2022 in Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville from 10 a.m. to Noon. Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
