Thanks to the 2022 Lady Jets Volleyball Team
As soon as I took a seat in the top row in the gym among many other Hauser supporting fans, I referred to the program and circled the number of seniors on each team and the number of players listed as 5'11" or taller. The Miners had an advantage in both areas which certainly can make a difference. At the same time, there are many factors in volleyball determining the flow and outcome of a game, and I was hopeful those factors would propel us to victory. Unfortunately, we just could not be consistent enough in those other areas on this day.
In Set 1, the Jets never recovered from the very beginning losing 18-25. In Set 2, we had the lead at 10-8, but the second half belonged to the Miners as indicated by the final score of 16-25. There seemed to be renewed hope as the Lady Jets changed the momentum in the third set leading early by seven points 8-1, and it was obvious our fans could sense it too. However, as is often the case in volleyball, momentum changed. Our last lead was 12-10 before losing 18-25. Like others, I was wondering what would have happened if we could have won that third set.
Linton-Stockton later beat Brownstown Central 25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15 in the championship game.
It is never easy to lose when hoping to continue the season, a season that often is extended through club volleyball. But this team can be proud of all of their accomplishments, in particular winning the Hauser Sectional after losing in the Edinburgh Sectional last year. It makes a strong statement about their character, and they will be extremely proud when seeing their team picture and names hanging on a wall like many Hauser volleyball teams since 2008 under the great coaching of Jeff Case and his staffs. We can't thank the 2022 Lady Jets enough for all the wonderful memories!
And we will certainly miss the devotion and skill level of seniors Kyra Meister, Charlie Clark, and Adrianna Musillami and wish them the very best in the future. Being the father of two former Hauser volleyball players, Bethany Webster Mize and Haley Webster Patrick, I am well aware of how experiences in volleyball will make a positive difference in your future.
