Glen D. Deaton, 82, Hope

Mr. Deaton was born in Warsaw, Indiana, February 6, 1940, the son of Devon Daniel and Marjorie May Tibbitts Deaton. On July 16, 1960, Glen married Eleanor E. Shively; she preceded him in death August 4, 2018.
From 1968-1997, Mr. Deaton was a purchasing agent with Reliance Electric, later Rockwell Automotive.
Mr. Deaton was a faithful member of Hope Moravian Church where he formerly served on the Board of Trustees and as an elder. He was instrumental in the church columbarium project and always enjoyed attending the men’s breakfast. For many years, Mr. Deaton was a member of the John Purdue Club. Some of Mr. Deaton’s hobbies include woodworking and restoring pedal tractors and he was an avid Purdue fan.
Mr. Deaton is survived by his daughters, Angela (Andrew) Wilkinson of Trafalgar, Andrea (Don) Hammond of Springfield, Ohio, and Anita (Scott) Watkins of Columbus; his lady friend, Carolyn Richards of Columbus; grandchildren, Melissa Stam of Columbus, Diana (Joshua) Imlay of Indianapolis, Hannah Hammond of Troy, Ohio, Lee (Katelynn) Hammond of Springfield, Ohio, Evan Watkins of Columbus, and Emma Watkins of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Geneva Carie, Charlotte Carie, Sophia Hammond, and Paisley Hammond; step grandchildren, Rachel (Jordan) Thomas of Carmel, Caitlin Wilkinson of Indianapolis, and Matthew Wilkinson of San Diego, California; step great-grandson, David Thomas; sister, Waneta (Bob) Bishop of Leesburg, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mr. Deaton was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Eleanor.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike; Pastor Andy Kilps will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday. In keeping with Mr. Deaton’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service. Inurnment will be at the Hope Moravian Columbarium.
