More than 3,000 colorful Easter eggs filled with treasures will fill the Hope Town Square for Main Street of Hope’s Easter Egg Hunt on the Square at 8 a.m. Saturday.
In addition to the massive egg hunt, this year’s event, sponsored by WindRose and the Columbus Visitor Center, will feature story time, a meet and greet with the Easter bunny and a delicious breakfast.
There will be four categories for the egg hunt dividing the children by age category, explains Jenni Richards, president of Main Street of Hope. The categories are kiddos up to three years old, ages four to seven, ages eight to ten and ages 11 to 13 years old.
After all the treasure-filled eggs are collected, a special story time will follow led by “Library” Dave Miller of the Hope Branch Library.
“I am just one little cog in the whole Easter machine,” Miller says. “After everyone is breathless and full of easter treasures from the Square, we will be on the bandstand where I will reach a couple of Easter or spring-themed stories.”
Following Miller’s story time, a feast of pink pancakes and bacon will be served, prepared by the ladies at WILLow LeaVes of Hope and a slew of volunteers who assisted in making the event possible.
“It is a fun tradition and a great way to use our public spaces on the Town Square,” Miller says.
Likewise, Richards says she is looking forward to seeing everyone and is hopeful for a great turnout.
“I hope everyone comes out and has a great time,” she says. “And gets to meet the Easter bunny.”
