SFOH Bingo Night Debuts Saturday

It was really no surprise when the Student’s Fund of Hope’s first-ever Bingo Night sold out in less than 48 hours from the time it was announced earlier this month. However, organizers say Saturday’s Bingo Night from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Downey Homestead, located at 4943 N. State Road 9 in Hope, is just the first of many more to come beginning in June.

“We went to a bingo night a couple of years ago at Miller’s Merry Manor before COVID,” says Whitney Budd, founder of the Student’s Fund of Hope. “They hosted one for the Fund to benefit us and it was so much fun. So, we wanted to see if we could do it again.”

And they have.

Hope’s Downey family has been gracious to allow the use of their pole barn for Saturday’s game night, Budd says, which is expecting a crowd of nearly 100 people.

Up for grabs are more than one dozen prize gift baskets featuring the gamut of a variety of items from bath and beauty to lawn and garden and everything in between offered by area organizations and businesses. There’s even one coming from Korea, sent by a former Hauser student who is currently stationed in the area, stuffed full of authentic Korean treasures.

The next Bingo Night will be held June 12 at 450 North, Budd says. Tickets for the event will go on sale in early May, she adds.

“This event is going to be a good guinea pig for all events of this kind going forward,” Budd adds.
