Game Report: Lady Jets vs Indy Lutheran 11/30 and Jets Host Beech Grove 12/02

The Lady Jets traveled to Indy Lutheran this past Thursday night for a non-conference game.  The JV team started the night off with a lopsided sixth-in-a-row victory.  The varsity squad started fast by building an 11-4 first quarter lead.  A slow second quarter allowed Indy Lutheran to cut into the lead by outscoring the Jets 14-9.  The momentum stayed with Indy Lutheran in the third quarter as they outscored the Jets 13-9, but the Jets outscored Indy Lutheran 13-11 in the fourth quarter to cause the game to go to overtime for the first time this season.  In a heated overtime period Indy Luteran outscored the Jets 6-5 for a final score of 46-45. 

The Jets were led by freshman Abby Manley who hit four 3's to score 12 points on the night.  Senior Bella Kilps and sophomore Braelyn Williams scored 10 points.  Senior Erykah Everroad scored 5 points, and fellow senior Mattie Foster had 4 points.  Aleigha Wickliffe added 2 points, and Haven Hartwell and Kennedy Konradi each had a point to round out the scoring for the Jets.

The Jets hosted Beech Grove this past Saturday afternoon for another non-conference game.  The JV team extended its winning streak to seven games with a grind out win.  The varsity was outscored 14-4 by the Hornets to start the game due to the overwhelming pressure defense.  The Jets found better footing in the second quarter but still the Hornets outscored the Jets 13-9.  The Hornets used the 3-point shot in the third quarter to score 9 of its 13 points.  The Jets used 4 free throws and a 3-pointer by Erykah Everroad to score its 7 points.  The Jets and sophomore Braelyn Williams came to life in the 4th quarter by getting 10 points from Williams and scoring 17 in the quarter.  The Jets were defeated 50-37.

Williams and senior Erykah Everroad each scored 12 points. Freshman June Berkenstock scored 6 points and collected 6 rebounds.  Senior Mattie Foster scored 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.  Junior Haven Hartwell scored 3 points to round out the scoring for the Jets.

The Jets will travel to South Decatur on Thursday for a JV and Varsity game starting at 6 p.m.
