Marion Russell (Bud) Saylor, 84, Columbus

Marion Russell “Bud” Saylor, 84, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born on March 26, 1938 in Grammer, Indiana, Bud was the son of Harry Francis Saylor and Wanita Richards Beach. He married Elaine Wiedmeier on May 13, 1961.

Before retirement, Bud was a Quality Control Engineer at Rexham. Bud served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962 and in the Army Reserves for 22 years. He became a Colonel while serving in the Army Reserves. He was a lifetime member of American Legion and served in the Color Guard and Honor Guard.

Bud loved spending time with his family and anything related to the military. He enjoyed the few winters that he spent fishing in Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Columbus; children, Tim (Nancy) Saylor of Hope and Cris (Doug) Case of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Don Saylor of Florida and Linda Caswell of North Vernon.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; children, Charlene Saylor, Gregory Saylor, and Janell Saylor; and siblings, Charlene Stapp and Bill Saylor.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 17 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
