Game Report: Lady Jets vs. North Decatur 01/24

The Lady Jets Basketball Team hosted North Decatur on Tuesday to conclude Mid-Hoosier play and the home portion of its season.

The Lady Jets brought a 4-1 conference record into the game with North Decatur bringing a clean 4-0 conference record into the game. The Jets took off fast leading the game 18-15 after the first quarter. Foul trouble hampered the Jets in the second and the Chargers took a 32-26 half time lead. The Jets couldn't find much in the way of scoring in the third quarter but did have a nice fourth quarter but couldn't overcome the defecate losing 63-49. The Jets finished second in the Mid-Hoosier Conference with a 4-2 record. This is the best finish in five years since the 2015-16 Lady Jets were crowned conference champs with a clean 6-0 record. The four Mid-Hoosier Conference wins match the three previous combined years. Last year 2021-22 the Jets recorded one conference win, two wins in the 2020-21 season, and one again in the 2019-20 season.

MaxPreps Player of the Game Junior Bella Kilps produced a team leading field goal shooting percentage of 86% going six for seven from the field. She also grabbed a team high six rebounds with senior Adrianna Musillami. Kilps ended the game scoring 13 points and Musillami scored nine points. Junior Guard Madelyn Poe scored 12 points and led the team in steals with two, free throw percentage or 100% going four for four from the line and assists with four. Senior Guard Kyliegh Parrott also had four assists and scored five points on the night. Sophomore Guard Norah Berkenstock led the team in deflections with four. She also scored eight points. Senior Forward Jaden Sims rounded out the scoring for the Jets with two points.

The Jets travel to Shelbyville on Thursday with basketball starting at 6 p.m. The Jets will open post season tournament play up at Switzerland County on Friday February 3, 2023 vs. Milan at 6 p.m.
