Moravian Clothes Closet to Host Clothing Giveaway Saturday

The Moravian Clothes Closet is holding its monthly free clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, January 28 at the Moravian Church, located at 202 Main St., in Hope.

Spearheaded by Hope resident Linda Foote and a team of dedicated volunteers, this month’s event – which will feature winter clothing and shoes for men, women and children – will be held in the church gym and individuals are encouraged to take what they need.

“It’s all free,” Foote says.

Foote wants everyone to be aware that this closet will be the last one for a few weeks.

Due to a packed schedule of church events and gatherings throughout the month of February, the Moravian Clothes Closet is taking a brief break.

In the meantime, those who are cleaning out their closets are encouraged to hold onto donations until the closet – and its donation boxes – returns to the church March 1 with another closet scheduled for March 25, Foote says.

Foote is very grateful for the community’s support for the closet up to now as it has proven to be a great success and has helped several families in the Hope area, she says.

“People seem to be responding to bringing kids clothes in so we have more than we’ve had in the past,” she says.

Last month, the closet helped out 40 families, Foote adds.
