Michael S. "Steve" Cox, 69, Edinburgh

Michael S. “Steve” Cox, 69 of Edinburgh, Shelby County, Indiana passed away June 10, 2023, at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born January 17, 1954, in Indianapolis.
He was the son of Burnis Green Martin Cox and Kathryn Elizabeth (Moorefield) Cox. He married Carolyn “Sue” (Hardin) Streeval Cox on February 21, 1976 and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Lisa Streeval Johnson of Flat Rock, Indiana, Rhonda Streeval Burris of Pierre, South Dakota, and Michael Steven (Natalie) Cox, II of Greenwood, Indiana, grandchildren, Anthony Burris, Ashley Fivecoat, Dakota Johnson, and Jordan Cox, three great-grandchildren, and siblings, Burnis (Linda) Cox of Columbus, Indiana, Judy (James) Cox King of New Whiteland, Indiana, and Terry D. Cox of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William “Bill” Cox and Martin “Marty” Cox.
Steve was an US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
He retired in 2013 from Heritage Environmental Services in Indianapolis.
He attended Mt. Auburn Christian Church and enjoyed playing golf, watching all sports, especially IU basketball, and westerns.
A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Guy Hardin at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Mt. Auburn Christian Church, 5878 W. 900 S., Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 2 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Edinburgh, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.
