Danny R. Whittington, 84, Hope

Danny R. Whittington, 84, of Hope passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Miller's Merry Manor.

Born on May 26, 1938 in Columbus, Danny was the son of Forrest and Dorothy Dailey Whittington. He married Ella Christine Whittington on July 5, 1983, and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2014.

Before retirement, Danny had been employed at Como Plastics and Sacoma International. He was a member of Hartsville Church of Christ.

Danny enjoyed woodworking, working outside, going to Florida and going on day trips.

Survivors include his children, Teresa Whittington and Tony Whittington, both of Hope; his companion, Lola Hileman; grandchildren, Nikki Whittington and Michelle (John) Mercer of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Rachelle, Abraxas, Xavier, Cameron, Matthew, John Jr., and Neveah; brothers, Richard Whittington and Mike Whittington, both of Hope; sister, Mary Mings of Hope; and several nieces and nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Chris; sisters, Betty Joan and June Green; and grandson, Tony R. Whittington Jr.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Brad Douglas officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Vernon Cemetery.
