Game Report: Batesville vs. Hauser Girls' Basketball 11/02

The Hauser Lady Jets opened the season against a very good Batesville team on Thursday night in the Jet Hanger.

The Bulldogs wasted no time jumping on the Jets leading 21-5 after the first quarter and a banked in a 3-pointer at the quarter buzzer.  The Jets opened the second quarter on a 4-0 run but were outscored 12-7 in the quarter.  The Jets turned the basketball over 16 times in the first half and 25 times for the game resulting in 21 of Batesville points.  The Jets played a better second half dropping the third quarter by a score of 16-10 and the final period by a score of 9-6.  The final score was 57-28.  The Jets moved to 0-1 on the young season.

The Jets were led in scoring by junior Norah Berkenstock with 10 points.  She also collected 5 steals and 4 deflections, and 2 assist to lead the team in those respective categories. Senior Mattie Foster chipped in 8 points and lead the team with 5 rebounds.  Senior Bella Kilps was 3/5 from the field scoring 6 points to lead the team in the field goal percentage category, while the team shot 36% on the night and 50% from the free throw line.  Senior Erykah Everroad also had 2 assists on the night.  Freshman Abby Manley collected 3 points and sophomore Braelyn Williams rounded out the scoring for the Jets with 1 point.

The JV Team was also defeated by Batesville to move to 0-1 on the season.  Freshman June Berkenstock led the way for the Jets collecting the field goal percentage award, rebounding award, and the deflection award.  Freshman Aleigha Wickliffe led the team in steals, while freshman Kaydenze Brock led the team in assists with 2.

The Jets will play South Ripley on Saturday with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
