Avis H. Manning, 94, of Scottsburg formerly of Paris Crossing, passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Lake Pointe Village Facility in Scottsburg.
Born on January 7, 1929, in Lapel, Indiana, Avis was the loving daughter of Henry and Amanda (Rose) Hensley. She was united in marriage to Clarence Manning. He preceded her in death.
Avis retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center after 14 years working as an Attendant. She loved flowers, animals, and any outdoor activities. Most of all, Avis cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish Avis’s memory are daughters, Joyce (Ed) Hamilton of Commiskey, Kay Bonesteel of Paris Crossing, and Vicki (Rodney) Gould of Sandyhook, Ky; son, Clarence (Yvonne) Manning of New Port Richey, FL; sister, Donna Robertson of Columbus; grandchildren, Mark Speer, Debbie Ferguson, Scott Speer, Gary Bonesteel, Shannon Danford, Steve Bonesteel, Mike Manning, Karen Manning, Erica Manning, Christine Blum, Cynthia Thurman, and Angela Claypool; seventeen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amanda Hensley; husband, Clarence Manning; sister, Willa Stimac.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Komen for the Cure.
In keeping with Avis’s wishes services were held privately. Burial took place in the Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery in Paris Crossing. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service were entrusted with the arrangements.
