Cindie Lou Jackson, 67, Hope

Cindie Lou Jackson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, in Hope, Indiana, at the age of 67. Born on August 4, 1957, to the late James and Eliza Clark Haste, Cindie's joyful spirit and creative heart shaped a life rich in love and beauty.

Cindie is fondly remembered by her family, including her devoted son Nicholas Johnson of Columbus, and the daughter of her heart, Laura Hiles, also of Columbus. Her love touched her grandchildren, Jaylynn Johnson and Jordan Stevens, and her great-grandchild Oaklynn Paetzel, infusing their lives with warmth and kindness. Cindie's caring presence will also be dearly missed by her nieces, Hayley Haste and Jessica Hartwell. She is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, Michael Haste and Paul Haste, leaving a legacy of cherished memories.

Professionally, Cindie's engaging personality shone during her career in sales at The Republic newspaper. An advocate for all living creatures and the beauty of nature, her interests in art, gardening, and the outdoors underscored Cindie's gentle and loving nature. Her home and heart were open to all animals, especially dogs, who were her constant, joyful companions.

A memorial service celebrating Cindie’s life will take place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather from 2 p.m. until the time of services. In keeping with Cindie’s wishes, cremation is planned. Those wishing to donate may make any charitable contributions to the Bartholomew County Shrine Club through the funeral home.

Cindie's life was a testament to the power of creativity and gentle love. Described by those who knew her best as creative, gentle, and loving, her memory will continue to inspire us. As the renowned Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Cindie's memory will be treasured forever for the indelible impression of kindness she left on those around her.
