Game Report for Week 11/25: Basketball

Boys’ Basketball
v. Brown County – The Boys Varsity Basketball team opened their season at home on Tuesday evening, defeating the Brown County Eagles by a score of 62-41. The Jets jumped out to an early 18-9 lead after the first quarter of play and held control of the game the whole way going wire to wire for the victory. Senior Collin Buck made his return to the court in a big way, finishing with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Gavin Keller produced 13 points and 6 rebounds in the win, while Stryker Gill had 8 points and a team high 9 assists. Ledger Gelfius added 8 points that included some long range 3’s, along with Kameron Blair who added 4 points and 7 rebounds. Waylon Harper had 5 points for the Jets, and Taeshaun Tungate provided solid on ball defense all night and added 4 points. Alex Cord rounded out the scoring in the victory with 2 points.

The Junior Varsity Jets also started their season with a win defeating Brown County by a score of 49-8. Leading scorers for the contest were Joel Bechtel, Chester Lonaker, and Peter Taylor each with 8 points. Braydon McFarland had 7 points, Jacob Bell with 6 points and Bill Miller and Tyler Deiwert each chipped in 4 points. Aiden Bense and Tishawn Lisby each contributed 2 points for the JV Jets.

The Jets return to the court this Friday evening for an MHC match-up in a Homecoming game against Morristown and will travel to face sectional 60 opponent Trinity Lutheran on Saturday.

Girls’ Basketball
v. Rising Sun – The Girls’ Basketball Team traveled to Rising Sun on Saturday and was defeated in a cold and chilly afternoon game. The Jets started fast exploding to a 9-0 lead but couldn’t find any footing after the hot start. The team shot 30% from the field and 5/10 from the free throw line. The Jets continued to give up points at the free throw line allowing Rising Sun to shoot 30 free throws and watched them make 26 of them. The varsity moved to 3-3 on the year and will host Southwestern on Tuesday. The JV Team defeated Rising Sun and moved to 5-2 on the year and will host Jennings County on Monday and Hawks Homeschool on Tuesday. Abby Stacey was the “Game Changer” award winner. The Jets will continue its busy week with an additional home game on Thursday vs. Indy Lutheran. This will be our annual PINK Out Game. The varsity will end the week on the road at Crothersville for a 1 p.m. game.
