Gladys Marie Cheek, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 25, 2024, in Hope, Indiana. Born on June 7, 1939, in Stanford, Kentucky, she created a life rich in love and tradition.
She leaves behind a legacy through her family, which includes her sons Roger (Michelle) Dollarhide and Steven (Selena) Dollarhide and her daughter Loretta (Michael) Forgey. She was the sister of Regis (Pam) Russell. She leaves behind her grandchildren Sarah, Aaron, Megan, Jennifer, Anthony, Heather, and Lillie, along with her great-grandchildren Zoey, Ezra, Cooper, Carter, Camden, Alexander, Isaac, Kari, Arlie, and Abram.
She is reunited in eternity with her sons, Anthony Lee Dollarhide and Allen Dollarhide; her husband, Samuel Cheek and her siblings, Joe, Charles, Robert and Marcella.
Gladys found immense joy in spoiling and visiting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed all flowers and gardening. Shopping for antique glassware, porcelain figures and artwork was a favorite passion. Christmas was her special time of the year and it was not possible to have enough decorations. Gladys enjoyed her four-legged friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 31, 2024 at 1 p.m. in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ric Hillard officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with her husband Samuel in Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gladys to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
