Nancy Jean Dudding Lindsay, 87, Bloomington

Nancy Jean Dudding Lindsay, 87, of Bloomington, Ind., passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born on October 8, 1936. in Indianapolis, Nancy was the daughter of Dr. Joseph Eastman and Jean Heilman Perry Dudding. She married CDR John Sheldon Lindsay, USN on February 22, 1968, in Bloomington. Nancy graduated from Hope High School in 1954 and earned her A.S. degree in dental hygiene at Indiana University in 1957.

While obtaining her degree, Nancy worked with Dr. Joe Muhler and Crest on the research of stannous fluoride. After marriage, Nancy became a dental hygienist at various dentist offices while residing in several different states. When she moved back to Indiana, she worked for many dentists in Bloomington.

Nancy was a member of Hope Moravian Church. She liked to garden, knit and crochet. She enjoyed sewing, and made clothing for her husband and daughter. Nancy enjoyed traveling and spent 12 years in Bermuda caring for her aunt Julia Perry Tammany.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Lindsay of Bloomington; brother, William (Alice) Dudding of Martinsville; nieces, Sarah (John) and Melody (Stuart); sister-in-law, Susan Dudding of Brainerd, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Robert and Jospeh Dudding.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service for Nancy will be held on Saturday, August 3 at Hope Moravian Church at 3 p.m. with Pastor Andy Kilps officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. Inurnment will take place at Hope Moravian Cemetery at a later date.
