Johnny Day, 72, North Vernon

Johnny Day, 72, of North Vernon, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be in the Otter Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Born on March 8, 1952, in Letcher County, Kentucky, Johnny was the loving son of John H. and Virginia (Back) Day. He was united in marriage to Linda Conrad on October 4, 1980. She survives.

Johnny retired from Toyota Manufacturing in 2002. Johnny had earned his pilots license and enjoyed flying. In his free time, he liked to go fishing, play cards, scraping, tinkering in his garage and loved cars. Most of all, Johnny cherished spending time with his family. 

In addition to his wife Linda Day of North Vernon, survivors include sons, Nathaniel (Cyndi) Day, Frank (Kim) Day, Daniel (Sheryl) Day all of North Vernon, and Ken Hannum of Hope; daughter, Sandra (Wayne) Lee of Jonesville; brothers, Joseph Day, Gary Day both of Brownstown, and Robert Day of West Liberty, Kentucky; sister, Louise Gahs of Peru, IN; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Virginia Day; son, Robert Day; granddaughter, Kayley Day.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the family for expenses or Polio Foundation.
