Game Report: Milan Upsets Hauser in Sectional Semi-Final

By Mike Asher

Pitching was the name of the game when Hauser and Milan matched up in the first Sectional Semi-Final game in Versailles Monday morning.

Brady Alcorn started on the hill for Milan and Sam Louden for the Jets. The Indians produced just enough offense to upset the Jets 2-1 to advance to Monday night’s championship (Southwestern Hanover defeated Milan in the Championship 8-4)

Milan scored a run in the top of the 2nd and in the top of the 3rd to lead 2 - 0. Hauser’s lone run came in the bottom of the 3rd. The Jets scattered four hits for the game. Lukas Christian, Stryker Gill, RJ Foster, and Simeon Wasil each had singles. “We just missed some timely hits today,” said Hauser Coach Nate Long. “Tip our hats to Milan, who played a flawless game and was the better team.”

Alcorn threw all seven innings for Milan and was the winning pitcher. He gave up four hits, one unearned run, striking out eight, and walking two. Louden took the loss pitching six innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on eight hits, and striking out four. “Sam pitched a great game, mixing up his pitches and kept us in the game,” Long said.

The Jets finish the season with overall record of 18-10. They once again dominated in the Mid-Hoosier Conference, finishing 12 - 0. The team loses two seniors: Carter Crockett and Sam Louden. “Our staff wishes the seniors the best of luck and success in their future. We will prepare this offseason and come back stronger next year,” Long said.
