Game Report for Week 11/04: Basketball

Girls’ Basketball
@ Edinburgh – The Girls’ JV and Varsity Teams opened its season at Edinburgh on Friday night. Edinburgh sponsored a PINK Night in honor of a former player and to bring awareness to fighting cancer. The JV set the tone with a 36-28 victory. The Jets were led in scoring by Nevaeh Paetzel with 13 points. The “Game Changer” award winning for the JV Ava Dempsey scored 9 points. Kaydenze Brock chipped in 6 points, Peyton Norris added 4 points and Leah Manley and Abby Stacey each had 2 points to round out the JV scoring for the Jets. The JV Jets are now 1-0 on the year.

The Varsity battled to a 59-55 loss and were led by Abby Manley’s 13 points. MaxPreps Player of the Game Haven Hartwell scored 12 points on a 5 for 6 shooting night and grabbed 4 rebounds. Aleigha Wickliffe scored 9 points, recorded a team high 8 steals and 8 rebounds. Wickliffe also recorded a team high 4 deflections on the active night. Chloie Phelps on a 3 for 4 shooting night and Norah Berkenstock both scored 7 points. Kennedy Konradi scored 5 points and recorded a team high 4 deflections, as well as, receiving the WCSI Player of the Game sponsored by Hoosiers Sporting Goods. June Berkenstock and Braelyn Williams both scored 1 point to round out the scoring for the Jets. The Jets couldn’t recover from allowing Edinburgh to shoot 37 free throws hitting 27 of them. The Jets will host Brown County on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start.

7th / 8th Grade Boys Basketball
v. St. Peter’s – The Boys’ 7th and 8th Grade Teams welcomed St. Peter’s to Hauser on Tuesday night. The 7th Grade Team defeated St. Peter’s and moved to 3-0 on the year. The 8th Grade Team was defeated by St. Peter’s and moved to 0-2 on the year. Both teams will travel to Waldron on Thursday for an MHC battle.

v. Waldron – The Boys’ 7th and 8th Grade Teams traveled to Waldron on Thursday night. The 7th Grade defeated Waldron 56-14, with Blankinship leading the way with 15 points. Leonard and Wiwi both dropped in 10 points, with Brown scoring 9 and Hamilton scoring 6 points. Russell, Barriger, and Grimes all had 2 points. The Jets are now 4-0 on the season and will host Shawe Memorial on Wednesday November 13, 2024 with basketball starting at 6pm. The 8th Grade also defeated Waldron 64-21 and moved to 1-2 on the young year.
