Girls’ Basketball
v. Brown County – The Lady Jets opened the home basketball season on Tuesday night vs. Brown County. The varsity Jets defeated the Eagles 48-30. Hauser was able to blow the game open in the second quarter with an 18-2 run resulting in a 31-15 halftime lead. MaxPreps Player of the Game Norah Berkenstock led the way with 16 points and a team high 3 steals going 8 or 9 from the free throw line. June Berkenstock and Kennedy Konradi each led the team from the field going 2 for 4 on the night and June recorded a team high 11 rebounds. Konradi scored 5 points and June had 4 points. Aleigha Wickliffe was active again scoring 10 points, recording a team leading 6 deflections, and grabbing 7 rebounds. Haven Hartwell recorded a team leading 3 steals and grabbed 8 rebounds scoring 1 point. Abby Manley dished out a team high 5 assist and scored 4 points. Braelyn Williams scored 6 points and Willa Wetzel and Kaydenze Brock had 1 point to round out the scoring. The varsity “Game Changer” award went to Norah Berkenstock. The JV defeated Brown County with Nevaeh Paetzel receiving the “Game Changer” award. Both teams will be at Milan on Thursday with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
@ Milan – Hauser hit the road Thursday night traveling to Milan for an early preview of Sectional 60. The Jets defeated the Indians 44-39 in a cold shooting night, but a great defensive night. The Jets rebounded in the second quarter to outscore the Indian’s 13-8 after trailing 9-8 after one quarter. The Jets build an eight-point lead in the third quarter only to see the Indian’s take serious advantage of foul trouble scoring 8 of their 11 points at the foul line in the third quarter. Hauser responded with an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter after a 36-36 tie to put the game away. The “Game Changer” and MaxPreps Player of the Game June Berkenstock scored 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting and grabbed a team high 6 rebounds for the Jets. Norah Berkenstock scored 13 points and led the team with 6 deflections. Braelyn Williams again hit two 3’s scoring 6 points on the night. Abby Manley scored 5 points with a 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter that just beat the buzzer and a huge fourth quarter lay-up. Haven Hartwell scored 4 points and recorded 5 rebounds. Aleigha Wickliffe scored 2 points and recorded a team high 3 steals, with 5 deflections on the night. Kennedy Konradi scored 1 point and recorded a team high 3 assist in a foul troubled night. The Jets forced the Indians into 22 turnovers deflected the basketball 27 total times. The Jests are now 2-1 on the year. The JV moved to 3-0 with a big victory to start the night. The “Game Changer” award winner for the JV was Nevaeh Paetzel for the second straight game. The JV Jets will host Jennings County on Tuesday starting at 6 p.m. and the JV and Varsity will welcome Waldron to Hauser on Friday for an all-important MHC match-up.
7th/ 8th Grade Boys Basketball
v. Shawe Memorial – The 7th and 8th grade Jets welcomed Shawe Memorial to Hauser on Wednesday night. The 7th defeated Shawe 35-31 in a back-and-forth battle. The Jets were led by Leonard’s 16 points. Blankinship and Brown each chipped in 6 points, and Wiwi scored 5 points. Wiwi found all 5 of his points in the fourth quarter when the Jets needed them the most. Hamilton rounded out the scoring for the Jets with 2. The Jets are now 5-0 on the year. The 8th Grade defeated Shawe to complete the nightly sweep. Wright dominated on the offensive and defensive ends recording 22 points and countless defensive rebounds. Noble had 7 points and Carmen and Raisor both had 4 points. Stuckey’s 2 points rounded out the scoring for the Jets as they moved to 2-2 on the year. Both teams will host St. Mary’s on Thursday with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
v. St. Mary’s – Hauser hosted St. Mary’s on Thursday night with the 7th and 8th grade teams both winning big. The 7th grade Jets utilized a deep rotation to complete the 49-15 victory. Leonard led the way with 13 points. Henderson had 10 points, with Wiwi scoring 8 points, and Brown chipped in 7 points. Blankinship had 5 points, Russell with 4 points, and Noble rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Coach Blankinship was “Very proud of the second unit for playing well throughout the game tonight”. The 7th grade Jets moved to 6-0 on the season. In similar fashion the 8th grade Jets won 60-33. Noble scored 19 and Wright scored 15 points. Stuckey chipped in 8 points, Raisor 6 points, Carmen and Mack both 4 points, and Seal and Wiwi added 2 points each. The 8th grade Jets are now 3-2 and both teams will travel to Morristown on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start.
