Boys’ Basketball
v. Eastern Hancock – The Boys’ Basketball Team hosted Eastern Hancock on Saturday afternoon in its annual scrimmage. The Jets and Royals battled one another to a 69-69 tie after all quarters were scored. The team is looking forward to its home opener on Tuesday when it hosts Brown County with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
Girls’ Basketball
JV v. Jennings County – The Girls’ Basketball Team hosted Jennings County for a JV only game on Tuesday night. The Jets took flight early leading 17-7 after the first quarter. Hauser again outscored Jennings County 9-7 in the second quarter to take a 26-14 lead. The Jets displayed great ball movement and defensive activity in the first half. The Panthers exploded in the third quarter scoring 21 points hitting five threes and the Jets managed to score 9 points to make the game all tied up at 35 going into the fourth quarter. The Jets executed down the stretch hitting important free throws and getting defensive stops to secure the 43-40 victory. Hauser shot an impressive 40% from the field with 32 of its points coming in the paint and the Jets added 15 team assists. The defensive stops help record an impressive 29 defensive rebounds and an active defense managed 12 steals and 15 deflections. In a balanced scoring attack Peyton Norris and Abby Stacey led the way with 10 points. Nevaeh Paetzel added 9 points and Kaydenze Brock had 8 points. Ava Dempsey had 5 points and Leah Manley had 1 point to round out the scoring for the Jets. The “Game Changer” Award was presented to Kaydenze Brock. The Lady Jets are now 4-0 on the year and will host Waldron on Friday Night with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
v. Waldron – The Lady Jets welcomed MHC foe Waldron to the Jet Hanger on Friday night. The Jet Hanger was rocking with Future Jets Night, face painting, and a canned food drive going on. The atmosphere was amazing, and the Lady Jets would love to thank the band, cheerleaders, staff, community, danger zone, and anyone else that attended the game. The Jets battled early foul trouble and trailed 12-6 after the first quarter. The Jets settled in and each team scored 14 points in the second quarter to end the first half 26-20 Waldron. The Jets exploded to start the 3rd quarter erasing the six-point Waldron lead. The Jets outscored the Mohawks 11-7 to trail by two heading to the 4th quarter. The game quickly was tied at 34 and stayed there for over 5 minutes. Waldron was able to take advantage of some key free throws and take the victory 40-37. The Jets were led by Norah Berkenstock’s 13 points and 3 steals and June Berkenstock’s 15 rebounds and 6 points. Kennedy Konradi had 3 assists and scored 2 points, and Haven Hartwell grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 4 points. Aleigha Wickliffe had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks before fouling out early in the 4th quarter. Abby Manley had 5 points for the Jets to round out the scoring. The Jets are 2-2 on the year and 0-1 in the MHC. The JV was defeated for the first time to move to 4-1 on the year.
v. Traders Point – In a bounce back game Saturday, the Lady Jets defeated Traders Point with an explosive second half. The Jets scored 40 of its 65 points in the second half after a slow start. The Jets were led by Norah Berkenstock’s 23 points and 5 steals. June Berkensotck added 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Abby Manley scored 9 points and had 3 assists. Braelyn Williams and Kennedy Konradi each scored 6 points. Aleigha Wickliffe added 5 points and Chloie Phelps, Willa Wetzel, and Haven Hartwell each scored 2 points for the Jets. Kennedy Konradi was awarded the “Game Changer” award. The Jets are now 3-2 on the year and will play at Rising Sun on Saturday.
7th / 8th Grade Boys Basketball
@ Morristown – The 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball Teams traveled to Morristown on Tuesday Night. The 8th Grade defeated the Yellow Jackets 62-32 with two players scoring in double figures. Wright scored 15 points and Stuckey had 14 points. The Jets had nine players score with Noble scoring 8 points, Raizor 7 points, Wiwi 6 points, Mack 4 points, Linke and Seal 3 points, and Richards rounded out the scoring with 2 points. The Jets are now 4-2 on the year.
The 7th Grade suffered its first defeat of the year 44-34 to move to 6-1 on the year. Leonard led the way with 10 points, and Wiwi scored 9 points. Blankinship was leading the comeback charge scoring 8 points all in the 4th quarter. Brown added 7 points to round out the scoring for the Jets. Both teams will host Milan on Wednesday with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
v. Milan and St. Bartholomew – The 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball Teams continued a very busy week hosting Milan on Wednesday and St. Bartholomew on Thursday. The 7th Grade defeated Milan and St. Bartholomew in convincing fashion. Leonard had a big night for the 7th Grade Team on Wednesday scoring 25 and Blankinship added 12. The 7th moved its record to 8-1 on the year. The 8th Grade also defeated Milan and St. Bartholomew moving its record to 6-2 and winning 6 in a row. Wright had a big night on Wednesday night scoring 22 points. Both teams will host Southwestern on Monday December 2, 2024 with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
