Zora Edna Layton, 89, of Westport, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Aspen Place Health Care Center.
Edna was born on March 3, 1935, in Edmonton, Kentucky the daughter of Omar and Mattie (Brown) Caffee.
She had attended Edmonton High School. She worked for 17 years at ITT Thompson Electronics in North Vernon and attended the Westport Christian Church. Edna and Jim enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. They visited Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Sea Island, Canada and Alaska.
She married James Earl Layton in Austin, Tennessee on April 23, 1966. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2013.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene (Keith) Cooley of Hope; her sons, Michael Grissom, Chris Grissom, Jack (Cecelia) Grissom and James (Wendy) Layton all of Westport; her sister, Laura Geralds of Atlanta, Texas; her 11 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Nellie Dixon and Shirley Wilson and her brothers Ben, Melvin, Chester and Billie Caffee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 4 until 8 p.m. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.bassgasper.com.
