Timmy Dale Wood, a lifelong mechanic with the heart of a free spirit, passed into eternity on October 22, 2024, at the age of 61. Born in the vibrant town of Cave City, Kentucky, on July 14, 1963, to Roy and Jewel Stroh Wood, Timmy's friendly and spirited nature was evident from his earliest days. His journey ended in the peaceful surroundings of Franklin, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and a love for life.
Timmy married Tammy Monday on March 5, 1994. Timmy was blessed with three devoted children, Brandon (and wife Autumn) Wood of North Vernon, Justin Wood of Elizabethtown, Indiana, and daughter Selena Garrity of Hope. His family was multiplied with the birth of his cherished grandchildren James, Emma, Brandon, Ashalynn, Addalynn, Brynlee, and Silvia. Timmy also leaves behind several brothers and sisters, his daughters-in-spirit Carly Western and Peyton Skaggs, his caregiver Janet Skaggs, companion Dorothy Skaggs, both of Columbus and his very special friend Teresa Western/Seale of Hope, all of whom shared in the journey of his life filled with cherished moments and adventures.
An expert with a wrench, Timmy was known to fix anything that was set in front of him; he warmed hearts with his humor and built lasting friendships with his unwavering loyalty. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he found freedom on two wheels and the open road, living by the well-known adage, "Life is a journey, not a destination," attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson. This saying encapsulated his approach to every day, always seeking out the joy and beauty of the present moment.
A funeral service celebrating Timmy’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Jewell–Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Eli Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to assist with final expenses.
Those who knew Timmy understood that if he considered you a friend, you had a steadfast ally for life. Timmy Dale Wood will be remembered not only for the laughter and spirit he brought into the world but for the enduring imprint he left on the hearts of all he met. His memory will ride on, steering us towards living fully and loving deeply, the way he showed us how.
