Game Report for Week 08/25: Soccer

Girls Soccer
@ Salem -- The Girls Soccer Team traveled to Salem on Monday Night to a 1-1 tie. Lilly Role netted the first ever goal for the Lady Jets in the first half. The Jets held a 1-0 halftime lead, but gave up a free goal to the Lions in the second half. The jets out-shot the Lions 25-5, but couldn’t find the back of the net except for Role’s. The tie moved the girls to 0-2-1 on the year and will host South Ripley on Wednesday starting at 6pm for its first ever home match.

v. South Ripley -- The Hauser Girls Soccer Team hosted South Ripley on Wednesday night for its first ever home game. Each player was introduced and the team presented a game ball to Mr. Fortune in the pre- match celebration. The Jets were on the attack early missing a penalty kick opportunity in the first half. Ultimately the Girls posted its second consecutive tie, finishing in a scoreless draw. Haylin Campbell recorded 20 saves on the night. The Jets moved to 0-2-2 on the year and will host Connersville on Saturday with soccer starting at 10 a.m.

v. Connersville -- The Girls Soccer Team hosted Connersville in a lighting delayed match on Saturday. Lily Role provided and lighting strike finding the back of the net late in the first half to score the first home goal ever for the Lady Jets. The Jets lost the match to move to 0-3-2 and will travel to GCA on Tuesday.

Boys Soccer
v. Jac-Cen-Del -- The Boys Soccer Team hosted Jac-Cen-Del on Tuesday night for a non-conference match. The Jets took flight very quickly with an Ethan House goal 28 seconds into the match. Hauser controlled the match until a breakaway goal by Jac-Cen-Del about 16 minutes into the second half. The Jets attempted 26 shots to Jac-Cen-Del’s 6 but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net other than the House goal. Goalkeeper Luke Bruner recorded 5 saves and “The Man of the Match” went to Kolton Wallace for playing a new position. The Jets are now 2-0-1 and host Indiana Math and Science on Thursday with a 5:30 p.m start.

v. Indiana Math & Science -- The Boys Soccer Team hosted Indiana Math and Science Academy Thursday night. The Jets escaped with a 2-1 victory to move to 3-0-1 on the year. Ethan House scored in the first half on a nicely played pass from Nicholas Mann to take an early lead. The Knights responded late in the first half with a breakaway score to make it 1-1 at halftime. Nicholas Mann netted the winning goal on a penalty kick early in the second half. As the intensity increased from both sectional opponent teams the score remained the same and ended with the Jets 2-1 victory.

Corbin Holzer was “Man of the Match” for the Jets. Holzer was rewarded for his defensive effort versus some physical players. Luke Bruner played the entire game in goal and collected 11 saves. The Jets will host Indy Lutheran on Tuesday at the Hauser Pitch starting at 6 p.m.
