Ronald D. Ziegler, 87, of Hope, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Born on August 22, 1937, in Shelby County, Ronnie was the son of George I. and Lillian Fox Ziegler. He married Frankie Lou Huggins on December 18, 1959, and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2014.
Before retirement, Ronnie had been employed at Cummins for 27 years. He attended Hope Moravian Church and was a member of Shelbyville Senior Center.
Ronnie enjoyed gardening, traveling, and watching and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Survivors include children, Charity (John) Ziegler Spicer of Monterey, KY and David (Jerrica) Ziegler of Seymour; grandchildren, Jeshua (Mandy) Caudle of Frankfort, KY, Jordan (Chad) Hillard of Frankfort, KY, and Craig (April) Ziegler of Seymour; great-grandchild, Liam Hillard of Frankfort, KY; brother, Gary Ziegler of Columbus; Ronnie’s companion, Myrna Dunaway; Myrna’s son, Curt (Trista) Dunaway; and Myrna’s grandchildren, Evie and Al Dunaway.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frankie.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Andy Kilps officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hope Moravian Church, 202 Main Street Hope, IN 47246.
