The HSJ Team would like to express much thanks for all the community support for the HSJ Online Hope Run/Walk making it the most successful out of the four. It was Todd Grimes, former Hauser teacher and HSJ writer, who suggested such an event in 2021, and the event has been of tremendous help to the HSJ General Budget and the Hauser Athletic Department. (I will also remember this one due to being very dehydrated afterward. Some concerned, caring, and thoughtful individuals came to my assistance. As I found out, dehydration is not to be taken lightly.)
Such an event would not be possible without the help of the FRHC School Corporation, JB Royer (Transportation/Facilities Director), Kyle Shipp (Hauser Athletic Director), and the Hope Police Department.
Participants wearing their HOPE Changes All wristbands received a discount from the following businesses: AH-HA Corner Cafe, D's Variety Store, Gold Nugget, Major's True Value, Special By Design, Swiss Maid, Tonala, and WILLow LeaVes.
And the following sponsors covered all of our expenses consequently helping HSJ and the Hauser Athletic Department: Michael & Tina Dean, Mike Deckard for Deckard Tool & Engineering, Jackie & Dan Tallent for Gold Nugget Pawn Shop, Brad &Cindy Hamilton for Hamilton Accounting, Bradley Dickens Hauser Class of 1993, Ashley & Braden Loyd for Norman Funeral Home, Scott & Anita Mings for Raymond James, and David & Lisa Webster.
We are already making plans for the fifth HSJ Hope Run/Walk at the beginning of August next year. If wishing to be involved in some way, please contact David Webster at 812-390-6550.
Many thanks,
Michael Dean, Jessica Deckard, Bud Herron, Don Hewitt, Pastor Warren Kirk, Scott Strietelmeier, Jennifer Villiger, David Webster, Terri Young, Howard Zachariah, Jenn Guthrie, Stephanie Shoaf, as well as Todd Grimes.
Note 1: We had relatives from Florida, Jimmy & Ruthie Horton, staying with us, and they proudly participated. They inspired the HOPE Changes All wristband by mailing me a plaque. Before going back to Florida, they generously made a significant donation to the HSJ Foundation. They are constantly praising Hope.
Note 2: On behalf of HSJ Online and Duck Creek, we also would like to thank all those who have purchased mums as we are once again approaching selling 300.
Note 3: The 2024 HSJ Benefit will be on Saturday, November 2 at WILLow LeaVes as HSJ Online will be celebrating 10 years as a not-for-profit and free reading digital newspaper which would not be possible without the never-ending support of the community. There will be songs and stories shared that evening by several talented individuals. Please call WILLow LeaVes at 812-341-7251 to make reservations. More details about this event will be on HSJ soon.
