Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field
@ Morristown / @ Waldron Invite – The Jets track and field team opened the outdoor portion of the season with a chilly evening at Morristown’s triangular meet on Tuesday, with both boys and girls placing third. Hauser was led by Addyson Russell’s triple victories in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and long jump and by Luke Bruner’s wins in both throwing events.
At Saturday’s Waldron Mohawk Invitational, both squads placed sixth of eight teams. Luke Bruner was runner-up in shot put and discus, and both 4x800 teams took second place in hard- fought races.
Baseball
v. Edinburgh / @ Edinburgh – The Baseball Jets opened MHC play with cross town rival Edinburgh for a Thursday-Friday tilt. The Jets swept the series moving to 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in MHC play. Simeon Wasil picked up the win on Thursday. Holden Pittman and RJ Foster combined for a one-hitter Friday night with 14 strikeouts. Lukas Christian went 3 for 3 to lead the 12-hit attack for the Jets. Stryker Gill, RJ Foster, and Simeon Wasil all had two RBI’s for the Jets. The Jets will travel to North Decatur on Wednesday and host them on Thursday.
Softball
@ Edinburgh / v. Edinburgh – The Jets Softball Team looked to sweep MHC foe Edinburgh on Friday night after an 8-7 Thursday night win. Thursday’s game got close after Edinburgh scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to make things interesting. Friday’s game took an extra inning to get the job done, winning 6-5 with a walk off double by Lucie Asher, scoring Haven Hartwell from first base. The Jets battled from behind most of the night down 3-0 after the top of the first. The Jets bats went to work scoring three runs to tie it back up 3-3 after one. Edinburgh scored 2 more in the top of second. The Jets tied it back up in the bottom of the third, and held serve until the bottom of the 8th inning. Haven Hartwell started in the circle and Haylin Campbell pitched the final three innings. The Jets will play Columbus East on Monday.
Girls’ Tennis
@ Oldenburg Academy – The Lady Jets Tennis Team opened the season on Monday vs. Oldenburg Academy. The Jets were defeated 4-1 and are 0-1 on the year. Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock picked up the win 6-4,6-4 at #2 Doubles for the Jets. Ruby McKinney lost a tough match in a tiebreaker, while Charleston Gelfius picked up a JV win. The Jets will welcome Jennings County to town on Tuesday.
v. Jennings County – The Jets were defeated by Jennings County on Tuesday night 5-0. The match of the night went to #2 Doubles Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock. They battled to a 6-4, 7-6, loss in a great match. Charleston Gelfius and Madaline Wilmer both picked up JV wins. The Jets will travel to Brown County on Saturday.
v. GCA – The Jets continued a busy week by hosting Greenwood Christian Academy on Thursday night. The girls dropped a tough match 3-2, with both doubles’ teams picking up victories. The number one doubles team of Abby Manley and Kaycee Ridgley won 7-6, 6-1. The number two doubles team of Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock stayed hot with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Charleston Gelfius, Madaline Wilmer, and Hope Dailey and Hayden Hedrick all picked up JV wins. The Jets will travel to Brown County on Saturday.
@ Brown County – The Jets ended the week of matches by traveling to Brown County on Saturday. The Jets won 3-2 in another great match. The doubles again carried the Jets winning both matches and #3 singles Kaydenze Brock was victories 6-3, 6-4. The one doubles team of Abby Manley and Kaycee Ridgley won 6-0, 2-6, and 6-2. The two doubles team of Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock won 6-2, 6-0. Charleston again won at the JV level along with Olivia Harris and Hope Bailey. The Jets pack up Monday and head to Batesville.
Boys’ Golf
v. Brown County/Morristown – The Jets Golf Team opened up play on Thursday hosting Brown County and Morristown. The Jets won the tri-way meet with a low score of 186. Brown County shot a 194 and Morristown scored a 240. Hunter Pappano led the way with a low score of 38. Brenden Burton shot a 44, while Marshall Moody fired a 48. Colten Hatton scored a 56 and Kolton Wallace shot a 62. Keegan Humphrey shot a 58 and Gavin Bain shot a 66. Sky Riley rounded out the team with a 67.
IHSAA 2nd Mandatory Moratorium Week:
Beginning 2025-26 school year, each member school shall also designate five additional separate weekdays in which there shall be no contact between athletes, coaches, and no athletic activities, including conditioning, conducted.
