Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field
@ Madison Invite – The boys varsity track and field team had solid performances across the board at Saturday’s Madison Invitational, placing fifth out of ten teams. Sophomore Braydon McFarland had a standout day, securing fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.24, as well as anchoring the seventh-place 4×100-meter relay team and the third-place 4 x 400 team. Distance runner Nolan Dailey ran hard-fought races, finishing second in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:44.99 and third in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:16.45. In field events, Luke Bruner took third place in the shot put with a season-best throw of 44′ 9″ and third in the discus with a throw of 127′ 10″.
The Hauser varsity girls track and field team competed in the Madison Invitational on Saturday, placing sixth out of nine teams. The Jets were led by record-breaking performances by freshman Addyson Russell in the 200-meter dash. Russell surpassed the former school record of 27.5 seconds, set by Tascha Taylor in 1989, in Saturday’s prelims with a time of 27.09. She later bettered her new record to 27.01 in the final, finishing second to Switzerland County’s Madison Spilman. Russell was also runner-up in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 13.34, and in long jump, hitting 15′ 4″ in her final attempt. Hauser relay teams placed fourth in the 4×800 (11:25.88), fifth in the 4×100 (55.79) and fifth in the 4×400 (4:51.50), all season-best times. Peyton Norris earned seventh place in the shot put with a throw of 26′ 2″ and eighth place in the discus with a throw of 72′ 2″.
The Jets will compete next at the Edinburgh Lancer Relays this coming Friday, April 25
Baseball
@ North Decatur / v. North Decatur – The Jets traveled to North Decatur on Wednesday night for an important MHC game. The Jets road the left arm of Simeon Wasil who tossed a one hit shutout striking out 14 on the night. The Jets bats helped him out scoring 9 runs and moved its record to 4-0 and 3-0 in MHC play. Lukas Christian went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s, while Wasil did damage at the plate going 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Dillon Lambert also went 2 for 4 on the night.
On Thursday night the Jets hosted North Decatur in the second game of the home and home series. The bats stayed hot scoring eleven total runs with four runs in the bottom of the first and two more runs in the bottom of the third, while exploding for five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Stryker Gill pitched a complete game scattering six hits while walking three and giving up one earned run. Wasil, Blair, Lambert, Christian, and Bennett all had multiple hits for the Jets. Hauser is now 5-0 and 4-0 in MHC play.
@ Brownstown / Lawrenceburg – The Jets traveled to Brownstown Central for a doubleheader with the host Brownstown Central and Lawrenceburg. The Jets were defeated in both games and move to 5-2 on the year. Lawrenceburg blew the game open in game one with a big 5 run top half after the score was tied 2-2 through 4 innings. K. Blair recorded two hits in the game for the Jets. The Jets went to extra innings with Brownstown Central with K. Blair working 7 2/3 innings striking out 9 and doubling at the plate. D. Lambert recorded multiple hits with a double. Hauser will host Rising Sun on Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.
Softball
v. Columbus East – The Jets welcomed Columbus East to town on Monday and the bats started hot. The Jets scored 8 total runs in the first 3 innings, but couldn’t hold off the mighty Olympians who scored 13 unanswered runs over the final four innings to come away with the 15-8 victory. Multiple players recorded multiple hits with Campbell going 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Brunner went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Hartwell went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. The Jets will host North Decatur on Thursday with softball starting at 5:30 p.m.
v. North Decatur – The Jets held serve in MHC play defeating North Decatur 14-5 on Thursday night. The Jets are now 3-0 in conference play and stand alone at the top of the standings. Hartwell tossed a complete game and the Jets bats produced plenty of run support. The Jets will host Connersville on Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
Girls’ Tennis
@ Batesville – The Jets traveled to Batesville on Monday and was defeated 5-0. Ruby McKinney played the match of the night winning two games in each set. The number one doubles team of Abby Manley and Kaycee Ridgely played a 3-6 set and then was defeated 6-0. The girls continue a tough stretch of the schedule by traveling to Greensburg on Wednesday for another non- conference match.
@ Greensburg – The Jets traveled to Greensburg on Tuesday and was defeated 5-0. The number two doubles team of Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock played a tough match losing 6-4, 6-3. Madaline Wilmer and Olivia Harris picked up JV wins. Olivia Harris and Catherine Fields picked up a JV doubles win on a great night for tennis. The Jets will travel to Edinburgh on Thursday for an important MHC match.
@ Edinburgh – The Jets match was postponed right as it started and a make-up date has not been set yet.
Girls’ Jr. High Tennis
@ Connersville – Middle school tennis began the season with a dominate win against Connersville, 5-0. The middle school varsity squad dropped a single game with the win. Sophia Crabtree, Hayden Dickey and Lylah Konradi won 8-0 at one, two and three singles positions respectively. Stella Berkenstock and Riley Diewert debuted at one doubles with a 8-0 win. Two doubles duo of Lilly Galloway and Emma Long won 8-1. JV doubles win from Zaylie Gonsior and Camryn Yarnell, 6-4.
IHSAA 2nd Mandatory Moratorium Week
Beginning 2025-26 school year, each member school shall also designate five additional separate weekdays in which there shall be no contact between athletes, coaches, and no athletic activities, including conditioning, conducted.
