Volleyball
v. Rising Sun – The Hauser varsity volleyball team kicked off the home portion of its season Tuesday night in a hard-fought match against Rising Sun. Despite a strong effort and a good home crowd, the Jets fell in straight sets: 19–25, 18–25, 25–27. Hauser showed grit throughout the match, pushing Rising Sun to the edge in the third set, which ended in a narrow two-point loss.
Standout Performances
Serving: Leah Manley and Kaidenze Shoaf each delivered 3 aces
Kills: Kaidenze Shoaf led the offensive charge with 8 kills, followed closely by Regan Mack 7
Assists: Leah Manley had a stellar night as the primary setter, tallying 23 assists
Digs: Defensively, Charleston Gelfius led with 12 digs, followed by Hayden Dickey with 10
@ Jac-Cen-Del – The Hauser volleyball team came up just short in a hard-fought match against Jac-Cen-Del, falling in a five-set thriller: 14-25, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 13-15.
After dropping the first set, the Jets bounced back with strong wins in the second and third sets, fueled by consistent serving and aggressive net play. Jac-Cen-Del answered in the fourth, forcing a decisive fifth set, where they narrowly edged out Hauser in a 15-13 finish.
Charleston Gelfius led the attack with a powerful performance at the net, tallying 16 kills, 3 solo blocks, and contributing to a double block. Regan Mack added 6 kills, 11 digs, and played a key role defensively with 1 solo and 3 double blocks. Hayden Dickey contributed across the board with 5 kills, 14 digs, and 4 aces.
Setter Leah Manley orchestrated the offense efficiently, dishing out 30 assists while adding 4 aces from the service line. Kaidenze Shoaf also had a well-rounded match, serving 4 aces, adding 3 kills, and participating in a double block.
Despite the loss, Hauser showed resilience and balance across all areas of play, battling to the final point in another competitive match.
@ Henryville Round Robin – The Hauser varsity volleyball team faced tough competition Saturday as they traveled to Henryville for a five-team round robin. The Lady Jets went 1-3 on the day, bringing their overall season record to 3-7.
Hauser opened the day with a loss to North Harrison (7-25, 17-25), then dropped a close match to county rival Edinburgh (18-25, 26-28). The Jets bounced back with a dominant win over Paoli (25-6, 25-12), before falling to host Henryville (18-25, 16-25) in the final match.
Despite the record, several players turned in strong performances:
Aces: Hayden Dickey led with 7, followed by Charleston Gelfius with 6
Kills: Charleston powered the offense with 24 kills, Regan Mack added 13
Assists: Leah Manley ran the offense with 42 assists
Blocks: Charleston had 3 solo and 3 double blocks, Regan added 2 solo and 3 doubles
Digs: Regan anchored the defense with 28 digs, followed by Hayden with 25 and Charleston with 23.
The Jets will look to regroup and build on their strong individual efforts as they head into the next stretch of the season.
Boys Tennis
@ Shelbyville – Postponed – The Boys Tennis Match was postponed until Saturday September 6, 2025 at Shelbyville starting at 10 a.m.
@ Brown County – The Hauser boys’ tennis team earned an impressive 4-1 victory over Brown County, showcasing strong performances in both singles and doubles play and moved to 3-0 on the year.
At No. 1 singles, James Oliver battled through a tight first set, eventually defeating Jax Burt 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. Joel Bechtel followed with a dominant showing at No. 2 singles, taking down Bryan Teague 6-1, 6-1. Brown County secured their lone point at No. 3 singles, where Brady Miller fell to Nicklaus Arndt 6-7 (2-7), 1-6.
Hauser’s doubles teams were in top form. The No. 1 duo of Kameron Blair and RJ Foster cruised past Jack Keener and Nolan McFall with a 6-0, 6-1 win. At No. 2 doubles, Graydon Kilps and Jacob Bell delivered a similarly commanding performance, defeating Andric Dunn and Jax Anderson 6-1, 6-1.
@ Rushville – The Hauser boy’s tennis team earned a solid 4-1 victory over Rushville in a non-conference matchup, showcasing strong performances across both singles and doubles play. At No. 1 singles, James Oliver battled through a tough match, ultimately pulling out a win in a third-set tiebreaker, defeating his Rushville opponent 6-1, 2-6, 10-3. Joel Bechtel followed with a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles, edging out Brady Martz 6-3, 7-5 in a competitive match.
Rushville picked up its lone point at No. 3 singles, where Cory Schwendeman overcame Hauser’s Brady Miller in a three-set battle, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Hauser dominated in doubles play. The No. 1 team of RJ Foster and Kameron Blair cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Joel Downey and Max Reynolds. At No. 2 doubles, Jacob Bell and Graydon Kilps turned in another strong performance, defeating Jakob Sloan and Josh Campbell 6-3, 6-1.
The team is now 3-0 on the year.
B/G Cross County
v. Hauser Hokum-Karem – The Jets showed up strong at tonight’s Hokum Karem, delivering solid performances, embracing tough competition, and making the most of every opportunity to push their limits. The event was full of energy, and our athletes rose to the occasion with grit and determination.

@ Small School Invite – The varsity boys’ cross country team took third out of twenty-six teams at Saturday’s Jeremy Wright Small School Invitational.
Nolan Dailey finished runner-up to Milan’s Gabe Riehle with a time of 16:49.0. Jace Wright placed 10th in his first high school 5K, finishing in 17:45.1. Max Moore Moore took 17th with a new PR of 18:11.3, Braydon McFarland was 61st (19:52.3), and Grady Niccum was 126th (21:59.2). Mason Johnson (23:01.7) and Max Miller (29:12.7) rounded out the varsity seven in 160th and 228th places.
The junior high boys team took home their first trophy of the season, led by Matthew Moore (8th), Noah Blankinship (13th), and Nevin Noble (15th). The junior high girls finished 8th, led by a 29th-place finish by Kendalyn Gernentz.
The junior high Jets return to action Monday at the Greensburg Invitational, while the high school squad race again on Saturday at Rushville.
Girls Soccer
v. GCA / South Dearborn / Lapel – The girls’ soccer team opened the season with three straight home matches. The girls were defeated in all matches, but continue to improve in all areas of the game. The girls will host Salem on Monday with soccer starting at 6 p.m.
Boys Soccer
@ Brown County – The Hauser boys’ soccer team kicked off its season in impressive fashion, earning a 4-2 road victory over Brown County to start the year 1-0. Senior Nick Mann led the offensive charge with a standout performance, recording a hat trick to power the Jets past the Eagles. Camden Grimes added Hauser’s fourth goal with a perfectly placed free kick.
The Jets’ midfield and attacking play were supported by key assists from Phillipe Douce, who had two on the night, and Alex Morcillo Conde, who set up Mann’s third goal.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Austin Sanders came up big with seven saves, helping to secure the win and hold off a late push from Brown County.
For their efforts, Mann and Sanders were named Co-Men of the Match—Mann for his scoring explosion and Sanders for his clutch goalkeeping.
Hauser will look to build on the strong start as they continue their early season stretch.
v. Henryville – The Hauser Jets (2-0) opened their home slate in dominant fashion, rolling past visiting Henryville with a 7-2 victory in a high-energy, back-and-forth match.
Leading the offensive charge was Phillipe Douce, who recorded a hat trick and added an assist, earning him Man of the Match honors. Nicholas Mann contributed two goals, while Landon Pendleton chipped in with a goal and an assist. Camden Grimes also found the back of the net, and Koleson Gernentz added an assist to round out the scoring.
Defensively, the Jets stayed strong throughout the match. Goalkeeper duties were shared, with Camden Grimes tallying 3 saves, Austin Sanders adding 2, and Luke Raisor recording 1 save.
The Jets will look to continue their early-season momentum on the road Tuesday when they face Jac-Cen-Del.
Girls Golf
@ Edinburgh/Oldenburg/Morristown/Southwestern – Beckah Sessions led the Hauser girls’ golf team with a round of 55, earning medalist honors in their most recent outing. Cheyanne Moody followed with a solid 58, while Lydia Taylor rounded out the scoring with a 71.
