William "Bill" O. Jackson, 84, Hope

William “Bill” O. Jackson, 84 of Hope, passed from this life at 3:24 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, left us peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born November 9, 1941, the son of Lovell “Smoky” R. and Dorothy E. Ryan Jackson.

He married Euna “Sis” P. Whitis April 16, 1960; she preceded him in death July 16, 2018.

Bill passed away leaving behind a legacy shaped by devotion, laughter and memories cherished by all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lovell "Buddy" Wayne Jackson, his step-father Curt Moore, and his beloved dog Marley Jean.

Survivors include his children, who were the pride and joy of his life. Dorothy “Dottie” Faye (Greg) Sims, William Ray (Sabrina) Jackson, and Carolyn “Jo” Sue (Greg “Wally”) Wallace, all of Hope; his grandchildren, Craig (Shannon) Sims, Tara (Kevin) Jessee, Gregory (Jesstine) Wallace, Kari Jo (Tyler Berry) Wallace, Trent (Martina) Jackson, Stephanie (Jon Mathis) Wallace, Tyler (Jessica) Jackson, Tonya (Brandon) Burton, and Brian (Tara) Sims. Bill was blessed to witness the growing circles of his family, with the arrival of several great-grandchildren, and a treasured great-great-granddaughter; also surviving, two nieces and a nephew.

A testament to his work ethic and integrity, Bill retired from Cummins Engine Company after thirty years of service. A member at Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church. Bill found joy in life's simple pleasures—watching western movies, taking leisurely car rides with his dog Marley Jean, and spending time with family and friends.

The story of Bill's life is not measured by the years he spent on this earth, but rather by the countless moments of joy. We take solace in the knowledge that his was a life truly well-lived and that his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he loved.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Kyle Yocum officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to time of service.

Mr. Jackson will be laid to rest next to his late wife at Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana or Bartholomew County Humane Society.
