Barbara Kay Meredith, 82, Columbus (formerly of Hope)

Barbara Kay Meredith, 82, of Columbus, formerly of Hope, passed away on December 24, 2025 at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation.

Born on October 22, 1943 in Hope, Barbara was the daughter of William and Marjorie Worrell Simmons. She graduated from Hauser High School in 1961. Barbara married Henry Meredith on October 9, 1975.

Barbara had worked at Como Plastics as a packer before choosing to stay home and devote herself to caring for her family. She enjoyed traveling to state parks, working on crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

She was a lifelong member of Hope Moravian Church and in later years, she attended Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Henry of Columbus; children, Sarah (Denver Barger) Meredith of Seymour and Michael (Lesli Felker) Meredith of Hope; grandchildren, Nolan Meredith and Chase Meredith; siblings, Irene Simmons of Columbus, Billie (Mark) Tatlock of Indianapolis, and David (Brenda) Simmons of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Jane Simmons.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30 at 11 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hawcreek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Bartholomew County Humane Society or Columbus Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).
