Game Report for Week 01/20: Basketball

Boys’ Basketball
v. Oldenburg Academy – The Varsity Boys Basketball team took on sectional 60 opponent Oldenburg Tuesday evening, winning in convincing fashion by a score of 68-33. The Jets lock down defense saw them hold Oldenburg to only 11 first half points, and a balanced scoring attack offensively carried them to victory.

Buck: 18 points & 11 rebounds
Gill: 13 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 points, 3 steals
Gelfius: 13 points
Tungate: 11 points & 3 rebounds
Keller: 9 points, 3 assists, 3 steals,
Blair: 4 points, 3 assists, 2 steals
Cord: 5 points
Harper: 5 points

The JV Boys also secured a victory over Oldenburg, winning by a score of 57-25.

@ South Decatur – The Varsity Jets hit the road on Friday evening for a conference battle at South Decatur. The Jets were hit by illness during the week and were down 1 player with multiple others under the weather. Still, the Jets handled business and played a complete game routing the Cougars for their 5th conference win of the season, 79-25. The Jets moved to 13-2 on the year with the victory.

The JV Boys also picked up a convincing road victory over South Decatur, 52-17.

@ Batesville – The Varsity Boys traveled to Batesville on Saturday looking for their 3rd win of the week against the solid 3A Bulldogs. A back-and-forth game saw many momentum shifts throughout the 32 minutes of play. The Jets lead by 1 at the half 23-22, and were down 1 heading into the 4th quarter, 35-34. Down 2 points with under 10 seconds to play, Stryker Gill attacked the basket and found a cutting Taeshaun Tungate along the baseline who scored the game tying layup to send the contest into overtime. In OT, the Jets could not match the hot Bulldog shooting and Batesville would go on to win, 72-64.

In the JV game, the Jets came away with a nice win defeating Batesville, 48-33.

Boys’ C-Team Basketball
v. Trinity Lutheran – The C-Team defeated Trinity Lutheran on Monday night at Hauser. The Jets improved its record to 11-3 on the year and will host North Decatur on Saturday.

v. North Decatur – The boys defeated North Decatur in a very good game on Saturday morning. The game was blown open in the 4th quarter after a 8-0 Hauser run to close the game out. The Jets held North Decatur scoreless for the last 5 minutes of the game and moved to 12-3 on the year and will host Jac-Cen-Del on Monday with basketball starting at 6pm.

Girls’ Basketball
v. North Decatur – The Girls’ JV and Varsity teams were defeated by North Decatur on Tuesday Night. The Varsity finished the regular season 10-12 and the JV was 11-7 on the year. The Girls’ will host Sectional #60 this week and play Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday starting at 7:30pm.

7th / 8th Grade Boys Basketball
v. Edinburgh – The 7th and 8th Grade Teams hosted Edinburgh on Wednesday night for a MHC Semi-Final preview. The 7th was defeated 30-29 while being shorthanded with sickness. Blankinship led the way with 11 points, Wiwi 7 points, Russell 6 points, Hamilton 3 points, and Hegae scored 2 points. The 7th moved to 17-3 on the year. The 8th Grade defeated Edinburgh and moved to 14-5 on the year. Stuckey scored 14 points, Wright added 12 points for the Jets. Noble had 6 points, Carmen scored 4 points, and Raisor added 2 points for Hauser. Both Teams will travel to Southwestern for the MCH Semi-Finals on Saturday.

@ Southwestern v. Edinburgh (MHC) – The 7th Grade defeated Edinburgh and North Decatur on its way to becoming MHC Champions. The 7th Grade finished the season with a record of 19-3. The 8th Grade defeated Edinburgh and Morristown on its way to becoming back-to-back MHC Champions. The 8th Grade finished the season with a record of 16-5. Congrats to Coaches and Players.

7th / 8th Grade Girls Basketball
v. Beech Grove – The 7th and 8th Grade Girls welcomed Beech Grove to town on Monday night. The 7th defeated the Hornets to move to 7-0 on the year. The 8th was defeated in a good game and moved to 3-5 on the year. Both teams will travel to Triton Central on Wednesday and North Decatur on Thursday.

@ Triton Central / @ North Decatur – The 7th and 8th Grade hit the road for two mid-week games. The 7th suffered its first loss of the season to Triton Central and moved to 7-1, but bounced back and defeated North Decatur and improved to 8-1. The 8th split the two mid-week games as well and is now 4-6 on the year. Both teams will travel to South Dearborn for a Saturday Tournament.

@ South Dearborn Shootout – The 7th Grade Team finished a very busy week by playing four shootout type of games at the South Dearborn Shootout Saturday and went 2-2 on the day. The team is now 10-3 and will travel to Jennings County on Monday. The 8th went 1-2 on the day and is now 5-8 on the year. They will also travel to Jennings County on Monday.
