Game Report for Week 02/03: Basketball

Boys’ Basketball
v. Southwestern – The Varsity Boys hosted Southwestern on Thursday evening and came away with a big win by a score of 82-13 over the Spartans. The win secured the second consecutive Mid-Hoosier Conference championship for the Jets, who are now 12-0 in conference play the past 2 seasons. The Jets average margin of victory over MHC teams this season was a staggering 44 points per game, showcasing a dominant display of connected-team basketball in each conference game.

Buck: 14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Gelfius: 14 points & 2 steals
Gill: 12 points, 12 assists, 4 rebounds
Tungate: 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Blair: 11 points & 4 rebounds
Keller: 9 points, 3 assists, 3 steals
Cord: 2 points, 3 assists, 3 steals
Harper: 7 rebounds & 1 steal
Je. Bechtel: 2 points & 1 rebound

In the JV contest, the Jets were victorious defeating Southwestern 65-22.

v. Indian Creek – The Varsity Boys welcomed class 3A opponent Indian Creek to the Jet Hangar on Saturday afternoon and defeated the Braves in an overtime thriller 72-66. The game was back and forth all through regulation with teams alternating the lead at the end of each of quarters 1-3. At the end of regulation, the score was tied 58-58, but the Jets took control of the overtime period outscoring Indian Creek 14-8 to seal the win. The victory improved the Jets record to 15-3 on the season.

Blair: 2 rebounds & 2 assists

The JV Boys also came away with a victory over Indian Creek, 42-27. The win improved the JV record to 14-1 on the year.

Boys’ C-Team Basketball
v. Jac-Cen-Del / @Shelbyville – The Boys’ C-Team suffered two losses this week and moved to 12-5 on the year. They will host Morristown on Monday in the field house with basketball starting at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Basketball
Sectional v. Jac-Cen-Del – The Girls’ Basketball Team hosted Sectional #60 and welcomed Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday.

The Jets battled all game and trailed the Eagles 13-8 after the first quarter. The Jets won the second quarter 11-10 and trailed at the half 23-19 after Jac-Cen-Del hit a 2-pointer at the buzzer.

The Jets again kept pace with the Eagles in the third with the quarter score ending at 10-9 in the Eagles favor. The Jets took a 35-34 lead for the only second time in the game with 3:30 seconds to play. The lead was shorted lived as the Eagles countered with a 3-pointer on the other end and the Jets couldn’t get any closer with the final being 49-44. Hauser was led by Abby Manley’s 17 points, while connecting on 5 3-pointers. Braelyn Williams scored 15 and also had 5 3-pointers. Norah Berkenstock chipped in 9 points, and Kennedy Konradi scored 3 points to round out the scoring. The Jets ended the season and wanted to thank the student body and staff for all the support this season.

7th / 8th Grade Girls Basketball
@ Jennings County – The 7th and 8th Grade Lady Jets traveled to Jennings County on Monday night. The 7th Grade won and moved to 11-3 on the year. The 8th was defeated and moved to 5-9 on the year. Both teams will host Immanuel Lutheran on Monday with basketball starting at 6 p.m.
