Jo Ellen Seright, age 78, of Hope, died on Saturday, February 15 at 1:25 p.m. at her home with her daughters by her side.
Jo Ellen was born at her home in Rush County on March 29, 1946 to Neal E. and Virginia E. Willey. She married Joseph Harlan Seright on October 16, 1964. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1996.
She graduated in 1964 from Milroy High School and from Huffer Beauty College in 1967. She was a beautician for several years. She retired from Hope Heritage House where she waited tables for many years. She was co-owner of Joes Small Engine Repair. She also worked for The Hope Star-Journal and wrote a column called Slightly Off the Square.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, games and cards and spending time with her grandchildren and Family. She was a member of The Hope United Methodist Church.
To celebrate Jo Ellen’s life, friends and family may gather on Tuesday, February 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be at Moscow Cemetery in Rush County where her son-in-law Jordan will dedicate her grave.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that you do an act of kindness for someone in Jo Ellen’s memory.
She is survived by her daughters; Samantha Jayne Seright (Dana) of Columbus and Stephanie Jo Shoaf (Jordan) of Hope. And her favorite Granddaughter Shaeli Jo Shoaf of Shelbyville. and her favorite Grandson Benjamin Jordan Shoaf of Hope. She is also survived by her sister Jane Fuchs (Ron) of Waldron and a brother Jack Willey of Plainfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her parents.
