Alan J. Greenhut, 62, Hope

By Norman Funeral Home

Alan J Greenhut was born on November 18th, 1963, in South Bend, IN to Ivan and Sheri (Beatty) Greenhut. He graduated from North Decatur in 1982. After high school he went into the Radio Communications career field where he ultimately started his own company in 2014 (J & A Communications).

Alan met his future bride, Christy Dance, while working in 1994 and was married less than a year later. Christy has stated on multiple occasions that she “knew that he would be the man she’d marry the moment she looked into his eyes.”  In March, Alan welcomed two sons into his life; Jon & Joshua. In June he welcomed his daughter, Samantha into his life.

Alan was the ultimate outdoorsman. It has been said that the only reason he lived inside was to be close to his wife.  Hiking, gold-panning, gardening & traveling were some of the things he enjoyed most. He was often referred to as the “Male Snow White” as he never met an animal that would not take to him immediately.  A fan of all food, his favorites were seafood and sweets. He was often within five feet of some sort of sugary/gummi snack.

Alan passed away on January 27th, 2025, with his loving family by his side. We will miss Alan’s loving energy, his infectious laughter, various catchphrases (Life is Good) and his unwavering devotion and support. His passion for life will be remembered by us all and will inspire us to live each day to its fullest.

Alan is survived by his wife, Christy (Dance) Greenhut; his children, Jon (Alexis) Kuhn, Joshua Kuhn, Samantha (Travis) Pittman, Beatriz (Oscar) Nestar, and Zoli (Orsolya) Leczkési, and others who found his and Christy’s house their home away from home both foreign and domestic; his grandchildren Malakai, Olivia, Jesse, and Raelynn; his mother Sheri Greenhut; his sister Sahara (Ken) Katz & family; his brothers Victor (Pat) Greenhut & family, Brien (Kari) Greenhut & family; and many other family members, friends, and others who were lucky to have met him.

His celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Norman Funeral Home 604 Main St, Hope, IN 47246 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Per Alan's request, please dress as you wish when attending visitation hours to celebrate his life.
