Ruth Marie Wright, 82, Shelbyville

Ruth Marie Wright, 82, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

Born February 20, 1943 in Greensburg she was the daughter of Ozro and Lorena Motz Edmondson. She married Jesse Wright July 21, 1973 and he preceded her in death January 7, 1997.

Before retirement Ruth was employed in retail working at Walmart and a gas station for many years.

Ruth was a life member of the Moose Lodge 2118 and American Legion Post 70 and an auxiliary member of American Legion.

She enjoyed crochet, cross words, bingo and especially spending time with her family.

There will be visitation for Ruth Friday from noon until 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. A funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery.

Ruth is survived by step-son, Guy (Janice) Randall Wright of Greensburg; grandchildren, Tasha (Charles) Goodlow of Columbus, Dylon Newton, Jordan Wright, Zachary (Alexis) Wright and Shawn (Savannah) Wright, all of Greensburg; five great grandchildren and a set of twins on the way; brother-in-law, Jason (Debbie) Wright of Greensburg; nieces, Mabel Duncan and Tina Florea, both of Greensburg and Nephew, Joseph Evans of Greensburg.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Edith Evans Scudder; step-daughter, Connie Byrd; brothers-in-law, Johnny, Jasper, Joe Jr., Jim and Jerry; sisters-in-law, Deana Giles, Evelyn Martin and Anna Hancher; nephew, Gerald Wright and great nephew, Jeff Washburn.
