Game Report for Week 05/19: Track and Field, Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Golf

Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field
@ MHC Meet – Hauser’s high school boys and girls track and field teams competed at the MHC meet on Thursday. The boys team finished runner-up to host Waldron and the girls team finished fourth. The Jets opened the meet by winning the 4 x 800-meter relay for the third straight year, with Mason Moore, Maxton Moore, Aiden Bense, and Nolan Dailey combining for a season-best time of 9:08.73. Kolton Wallace followed with a win in the 110-meter hurdles, running a new personal record of 18.18. Wallace also ran a PR of 45.55 in the 300 hurdles, finishing second. Returning MHC discus champion Luke Bruner defended his title with a personal-best throw of 145′ and added the shot-put title with a toss of 49′ 9″, the third-best mark in Hauser program history. Nolan Dailey cruised to a first-place finish in the 3200-meter run (11.16.5), followed by teammate Mason Moore in second (11.28.41). Dailey also took second place to Waldron’s Will Larrison in both the 1600 and 800 races. Bruner, Wallace, Dailey, Bense, and Max and Mason Moore earned All-Conference honors for their victories and will be recognized at the MHC Spring Sports Banquet on June 4.

The Lady Jets were led by Addyson Russell’s victories in the 100-meter dash (13.15) and the 200-meter dash (27.51). The freshman also took second in long jump (15′ 7.25″). The girls 4×800 relay team of Abigayle Trotter, Kaidenze Shoaf, Katherine Price, and Kennedy Konrad ran a time of 11:40.20, finishing second. Russell’s wins earn her All-Conference honors, to be recognized at the Conference All-Sports Banquet on June 4.

Hauser will compete in the Columbus North Sectional next week, with the girls meet held on Tuesday, May 20 and the boys meet on Thursday, May 22.

Baseball
v. Shelbyville – Cancelled

@ South Decatur / v. South Decatur (Cancelled) – The Baseball Team continued its dominance of MHC opponents knocking off South Decatur Thursday night. The Jets stay undefeated in conference play. Wasil picked up another conference win on Thursday pitching a complete game striking out 15, walking 4, and giving up 3 hits and zero runs. Foster produced two hits and the offense produced four runs.

Softball
@ Trinity Lutheran / South Decatur – The Softball Team traveled to Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday and picked up another sectional 60 win. The girls also defeated South Decatur on Thursday to improve its record to 7-4 and 5-0 in MHC play. Friday’s South Decatur game was rained out.

Girls’ Tennis
v. Morristown – The Girls Tennis Team welcomed MHC foe Morristown to town on Monday night. The Jets won 4-1 with Ruby McKinney winning at number one singles in a come from behind tiebreaking match 1-6, 6-2, 10-2. Other winners were number three singles Kaydenze Brock 6-1, 6-4, number one doubles of Abby Manley and Kaycee Ridgley 6-1, 6-2, and number two doubles received a forfeit. The Jets will host Indian Creek on Tuesday.

v. Indian Creek – The Girls Tennis Team welcomed a very good Indian Creek Team on Tuesday evening. The Jets were defeated 5-0 and the match of the night went to the number one doubles team of Abby Manley and Kaycee Ridgley who lost (3-6, 7-6, (4-10 tiebreaker). The Jets will host Southwestern on Thursday for Senior Night.

v. Southwestern – The Girls’ Tennis Team continued its busy week by hosting Southwestern on Thursday night for senior night. The team was defeated 3-2 and Kaydenze Brock won at three singles 6-0, 6-1. The number two doubles of senior Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock won 6-1, 7-5. The Jets will host the MHC Tournament on Saturday starting at 9am.

v. MHC – The Girls’ Tennis Team hosted the MHC Tennis tournament on Saturday morning. Maley Jordan and June Berkenstock won the #2 doubles championship and received All-Conference recognition.

Girls’ Jr. High Tennis
@ Austin – Cancelled

Boys’ Golf
@ Edinburgh / North Decatur – The Boys Golf Team traveled to Edinburgh to face the host and North Decatur. The Jets fired a team score of 169 while North Decatur shot a 177, and Edinburgh shot a 243 on the night. Hauser was led by Hunter Pappano 34, with Marshall Moody shooting a 43, Brenden Burton a 45, and Colten Hatton a 47. Keegan Humphrey shot a 63 and Nathan Linke shot a 56 to round out the scoring for the Jets.

@ Brown County – The Jets Boys Golf Team traveled to Brown County on Tuesday night for a great match. Hunter Pappano led the team shooting a 36. Marshall Moody fired a 48, Brenden Burton a 54, Colten Hatton a 57, Nathan Linke a 66, and Keegan Humphrey a 58. The team recorded a 195 team score while Brown County shot a 181. The boys will travel to Martinsville on Thursday.

@ Martinsville / Franklin – The Boy’ Golf Team traveled to Martinsville to face the host and Franklin. The Jets shot a 196 as a team to finish 3rd Place. Franklin shot a low score of 158 and Martinsville fired a 173. Hunter Pappano shot a 40 to lead the Jets. Marshall Moody shot a 49, Brenden Burton shot a 51, Colton Hatton 56, Keegan Humphrey 58, Nathan Linke and Gavin Bain both shot a 67.

Girls’ and Boys’ Jr. High Track and Field
The Girls’ and Boys’ Jr. High Track and Field Teams competed at Waldron on Saturday in the MHC meet. Both teams finished runner-up, while Jace Wright won the 1600 and 800 and Chandler Madden was the 100 winner. Iris Miller, Lexin Ruble, Sydney Holzer, and Chandler Madden won the 4x100 relay. This ended the Jr. High season.

IHSAA  2nd Mandatory Moratorium Week
Beginning 2025-26 school year, each member school shall also designate five additional separate weekdays in which there shall be no contact between athletes, coaches, and no athletic activities, including conditioning, conducted.
