Game Report: Hauser Baseball & Softball Win to Advance in Their Sectionals

By Mike Asher

Hauser’s starting pitcher Simeon Wasil was not messing around in their first-round game against Sectional 60 host Jac-Cen-Del Wednesday afternoon. The Senior was dealing on the mound, going all seven innings in the Jets shut-out victory 6-0. Wasil held the Eagles to three hits while striking out 12. Not only did he dominate on the mound, but one of his two hits was a solo homerun to centerfield in the third inning. Junior third baseman Kameron Blair was on fire at the plate as he went 3-4 with two doubles. Also collecting hits for the Jets were infielders RJ Foster and Holden Pittman. Catcher Stryker Gill walked three times for Hauser. The Eagles threatened to score in an inning with two on and one out, but Wassil and the Jets defense worked out of the jam.

The Jets advance to the semifinals Saturday at Jac-Cen-Del beginning at 2 p.m. against Rising Sun.

Congratulations to the Hauser Lady Jets softball team, as they defeated Crothersville 13-1 to advance to Thursday night’s Championship game at Rising Sun. Hauser improved their season record to 14-6 and will battle Milan (24-9). Both teams are on long winning streaks, but did not face each other in the regular season. Last season the teams squared off twice in May. Hauser winning 7-5 at home and 2-1 in last year’s sectional. The first pitch is at 6 p.m.
