AH-HA Corner Cafe had a wonderful Heritage Days with the owner, Heather Fowler, stating: “A big thank you to everyone who popped by our cafe during Heritage Days weekend. We loved having you with us! Our success starts with you, and we're so grateful for all the support.”

Well, Heather was extremely happy with business during Heritage Days; however, it wasn't long after those three days that they had a grill-grease fire. The fire was quickly controlled due to their fire extinguisher being available and due to the the quick action of the Hope Fire Department and others who Heather expressed deep appreciation. I know there have been a few major business fires in Hope throughout its history as documented in the Yellow Trail Museum, and I know several people in Hope have experienced devastating home fires. The AH-HA fire was thankfully minor.

Heather made these remarks, “Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The damage, although irritating and time consuming was limited. We look forward to seeing all of you during our official Grand Reopening Anniversary on Saturday, November 15.”

In speaking to Heather and referring to their Facebook Page, they were hoping to reopen sooner. However, the clean up as well as inspections were quite involved. Thankfully, they had insurance coverage, but insurance did not cover hours Heather and others had to spend cleaning. I know due to driving by one day, stopping, and interrupting Heather as she was hard at work.

On Saturday after several days of a soft reopening, they will have their typical well-liked cinnamon rolls and fried biscuits and apple butter as well as several Specials. Heather wants all to know they are adding a couple new items to their menu including the Smash Bowl, a combination of southern fried chicken, cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn with grilled Texas toast for $9.99. I will for sure try it! And, as a special part of the celebration, you will be able to get a hot dog for $1.50 as well as a large fountain drink for $1.00. Soon, they will be implementing the Uber Eats delivery app. Sally Webster, who has greatly appreciated appearing at AH-HA Corner Cafe during their first two years, has volunteered to come in and play a mixture of songs, including some Christmas starting at 10:30 a.m.

Due to personally living in Hope a long time, I know there will be much support this Saturday. It is what Hope does, proving it often over the years. Heather and her staff, Pablo, Amber, Tammy, Carla, Joe, and Melissa look forward to seeing and serving you. I certainly look forward to being there!
